The year was 1957 and i was studying in the 7th standard in school.I was 12 years old at that time. We had an English lesson in our English reader on film Studios. One of our classmates was the adopted son of the legendary actor Prithviraj Kapoor who lived not very far from my house. my friend once took me and another classmate to see the R.K. studios owned by Prithviraj Kapoors famous son Raj Kapoor. We went there around 8 am and saw that the huge studio had not yet opened. From there we walked across to Raj Kapoor`s house and met the 2 young sons of the actor, Randhir and Rishi Kapoor who were schoolboys. From there we walked across to Shammi Kapoor`s house a short distance. When we reached the gates we saw a small crowd assembled outside his house but we entered the compound and then stood just near the gate.Since the watchman knew our classmate he allowed us to enter but asked us to wait outside the house. In about 20 minutes, the tall and handsome figure of Shammi Kapoor walked out of the house and seeing us enquired from our classmate who we were and what we were doing there.when our claamate explained why we were here he asked him to go to his house and see that we all had breakfast and then come to the studio. we spent around 3 hours at his house and were treated very kindly b the people there.Unfortunately his first wife Geeta Bali wasn`t there as she had gone to London for shooting. After a sumptuous breakfast and playing with his infant son we went to the studio and Shammi Kapoor arranged for us to see the entire studio. I am a big fan of Shammi Kapoor and have seen most of his films. He was a big star of his time and had several hit films to his name.He will be missed by all his fans who loved him and his films.

Hi veejay..
You are too lucky as you were familiar to Kapoor family, the best family dedicated to bollywood ever. Hope you have same intimacy now too ( if you, then i can meet them holding your hand, lol)
Well, i am also a big fan of this veteran and evergreen actor and perhaps the "yahoo" sound will not ever forget.
Have a nice day.

That was a very long time back Shibham. There is no trace of my classmate either who was adopted by Prithviraj Kapoor as he was kicked out since he married against the wishes of the family.I was also very young and was so awestruck by Shammi`s presence that i forgot to ask him for his autograph.

I bet you enjoyed visiting the famous family. I don't think I have seen any of his films being from the United States. THese names sound familiar. And you got to see the entire studio. Now that would be fun. I have wanted to go to the Universal Studios here but I don't have the money.
