I found GoAskAlice but not on myLot. This one is at Columbia University.
I was just doing some staph infection research to see if there's anything I should know that the doctor didn't tell me. I read one site, then another, then another. One of them was GoAskAlice.columbia.edu and I actually learned more about staph infections from that site than from any other site. Cool, huh?
Okay, maybe I'm the only one here who didn't know that we could find GoAskAlice somewhere other than myLot but that doesn't make my finding this site any less surprising to me.
Alice, I'm impressed!

Hi Chevee! I hope that site has helped you. It only proved to me that we can't stop with just one site when researching anything because there just might be some better or more in-depth information on the very next page.

What was that old TV show? The one where there was one REAL person and two false ones pretending... uhh... it was way back in the 60's or somewhere near there. I should ask GoAskAlice. Uhh, hey, AliceAlex, what was that show?
Was it What's My Line? We need to do that show again to see who the REAL imposter is!

I never heard of Go Ask Alice before. I guess I am a little more delirious than you are. I think that it is important to share these sites with others in order to help one another with those research skills.

My husband probably took them down to the laundry room with my missing blouse. I'll go check and let you know.

If you have a question about myLot that you cannot find the answer to in the FAQs section, you can ask 'GoAskAlice' in a PM. GoAskAlice in myLot is administration. This other site I found is completely different but uses the same name.

Hi AP! Well, yesterday I wasn't much good but I'm a bit better today. This thing is the strangest infection I've ever had and, believe me, I've had plenty! Just not staph before. My fever keeps coming down and going back up but at least, when it goes up, it's never as far up as it was the previous time. Today, it's only about one degree above normal. I see the doc on Friday and I'm REALLY hoping that this darned thing is gone by then! I am NOT a good patient!

hi!
Yesterday it happened with me too. I was searching for some topic and I was transported to the site mentioned by you. However, I have a feeling that GoAskAlice on mylot is a different entity than the other one.

Yeah, most likely. I'll chalk it up to this stupid fever that refuses to go away and is making me delirious.

Hi Opal! I have learned that this is a different Alice. I had a feeling it might be because it didn't make much sense to have a medical expert have one site who is moonlighting on myLot. It would be a sad day if I found out that an expert in the medical field isn't making enough money and has to moonlight. Still, it's ironic that both "Alices" have a lot of answers that we all need occasionally.

Isn't it cool when situations make the world seem a little smaller? I would be tempted to send a message and see if it is the same person. You never know what you may find out! I hope that it is not you with staff and that you are just researching the topic. But, if not, good luck getting rid of it!

Hi harmonee. Yep, it sure is cool. I love finding out just how small our world is.
Unfortunately, I was looking up staph infections because I was diagnosed with one last week (and still have it, although it's finally getting better). I was trying to find out what other kinds of antibiotics could be used to treat this type since the ones I was on were making me quite sick themselves. I spoke to the doctor about them and was told simply to stop taking them for 24 hours then resume them again and also start taking probiotic supplements. I couldn't understand what they would do to help with the nausea I had from the medication, though, so I was looking that up. (I didn't find that anywhere so I believe this doctor doesn't know what she's doing.)
Luckily, I finally talked the doc into putting me on a different kind of antibiotic. This one is not making me sick and is bringing my fever down so, hopefully, I'll be over this very soon. Staph infections are nasty!

"GoAskAlice" is a service one finds here there and everywhere which assists those seeking answers pertaining to the site in question. But if you go to "GoAskAlice" of the Columbia University and ask about rating in myLot you will not get an answer there!

Yeah, it makes sense to me... now. I've been sick with a staph infection and fever that just will NOT go away so I'll blame my mental fart on that.

Dear 'M'. I checked the site and don't consider it an expert's site. Just a generalist like you and me. I don't think you will get any positive help from Alice. She will only advice you to go to a doctor.

Hello dear rambansal! I agree that the best advise is always to see a doctor if other means cannot correct a problem. Regarding this staph infection I have, everything I've read on the subject tells me to see a doctor immediately. The fact that this happened so quickly and produced a fever in me four degrees above normal told me that I really do need antibiotics, although I am also using homeopathic methods alongside the medical treatments to get this out of my body as quickly as possible.
I have had serious infections before in my life that almost killed me before I had medical intervention, such as blood poisoning, peritonitis and intestinal infections. I fully believe in the power of holistic and homeopathic healing but, as far as my own body goes, I almost always seem to need a bit more. Actually, one reason I moved to this house is because of the naturally calming atmosphere. I even practice feng shui in my house and landscaping outside. I know that helps but it is just not enough where my stupid body is concerned.
