Why Do I End Up Eating A Lot On Weekends??

Last week was a long weekend here since it was the queen's birthday. So, we got time (my hubby and I with our friends) to hang out and eat out. We have been eating a lot of foods over the weekends. I watch my diet all week long then come weekends, I tend to EAT!! I was actually scared to check my weight this morning when I went for a run. Good thing that the scale stopped at 50kilos, still. I was amazed, believe me. But if I don't stop this habit, I'm afraid I can't keep this up. I know I gotta be discipined in the foods I eat, especially on weekends. Ayst! Do you experience the same thing?

Probably you are less busy at home over the weekends. It could also be because you are bored over the weekends and that is why you just do something with your time over the weekend. But probably you may have a better understanding.

Or maybe it's because foods are more yummy during the weekends!

That could be the reason.

Sometimes, when you have more time to relax, and such, it can help you feel that you're hungry more. That's possibly why you may eat more during the weekend.

Umm..maybe. Hihihi.. I think it's I just love eating; and weekends are the best time to eat up. Geez! I need to hold my appetite though. I know too much of anything is not good for us.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense too.

Yes I do experience the same thing. I can't help myself on the weekends because I am bored and not working. I work all week long at watching what I eat and then I blow it on the weekends. I know it's going to happen again when the weekend comes and I tell myself it will be different this weekend and I may start out right on saturday morning but by the afternoon I am eating. The problem is I am eating too much junk food on the weekends. I may eat a bag of chips and/or a couple chocolate bars and then I figure I blew it so I may as well keep on eating, all weekend long. I can't seem to help myself. Just now my phone rang and it's my landlord inviting myself and my daughter over for a barbeque dinner. He says he had a dinner party last night and has a ton of left overs and would like us to come over and share it with him. He does that every once in awhile, calls us to come over. The thing is I know if I go I will eat way too much and I have been pretty good so far this weekend with eating. I have been keeping myself busy cleaning my yard this weekend and it is a big chore. Yesterday I worked outside for 5 hours and today I now have to pick it all up, weeds and tree branches so that will take me another couple hours. So I don't know if we are going or not, I think I may not. Cheers and have a nice day my friend, Chris

Hi chris! Thanks for your response. While it's really tempting to over-eat on weekends, I don't know but I still prefer to eat less junk foods. I like eating out on restaurants and going to coffee shops. I'm not into chips, anymore..yaiks! It's a sign of old age, I guess!!hahahaha!!!

I am trying to watch what i eat at the moment as i am trying to loose weight! I think weekends and other social encounters are the hardest because it is all to often including meals or food. I think drinking also contains alot of calories and doing both together can mean trouble for our diets. I think cutting down your meal size will help alot and try to provide healthier options for snack foods over the weekends when we have more opportunity to cook and eat instead of during the week while we are so busy. I like to snack on nuts in between meals. They are fullfilling and have good oils that your body needs.

I watch what I eat on weekdays. I eat very lightly, actually. But on weekends, I don't really care what I eat, hihihi... I'll go back to the gym on the weekdays anyway.hahaha!

Perhaps, your body naturally appreciates more things during the weekend, as it has more chance to relax. Your brain naturally knows that its the weekend, and subliminally tells your body, "it's time to enjoy". But rightfully, you should enjoy the weekends and allow your body to relax, as it is your time to relieve all the stress you may have endured during the week.

I guess so, way2vision. Weekends are the days when my hubby and I just chill.

hi:) perhaps you are more relax on weekend, so you tend to eat more. because I'm like that on weekdays because I'm always on a hurry I don't eat much, but when it's weekend I ate a lot I eat double of what I eat on weekdays. but I think it's alright anyway that's only two days in a week so any pounds I gain on weekend I lose in again on weekdays:)

When I visit with family and friends I do tend to eat more. It might be a weekend or it might be during the week. I need to be actively losing weight. Since you have identified this problem you should maybe make a point to have low calorie treats, snacks and meals easily available so you do not eat too much.

I do eat a lot gardengerty, but I still choose what I eat. You are right en you say to eat low-cal foods. I do that so I can eat more. I still shy away from sweets and snacks on the weekends. What I eat are big lunches and heavy beakfasts. I don't do much snacks. And dinnertime, I'd usually just have veggies since we're most likely already home by then.hihihi

I think it is okay to blow your diet once in awhile as long as you go back to your diet. It sounds like you go back on your diet after eating a lot on the weekends. This shouldn't hurt your weight too much if you are doing exercises on the weekends. Do you walk on the weekends? Keeping the metabolism burning helps. A lot of people eat more on the weekends because they spend more time with their partners and go to restaurants. I don't think you are the only one that over eats on the weekend. It is almost like you are rewarding yourself for keeping a strict diet on the weekdays. If you really want to eat less on the weekends then you can do it. You already do it on the weekdays.

Thanks bluegoblin! At least that takes off a little guilt. Yes, I still walk during the weekends; but only a kilometer or so. I eat up on lunch and have a afternoon snack sometimes. On dinner time though, I would just eat steamed veggies and fruits. I still try to limit my food intake even if I pig out! Nyahaha!

Could it be that you are less busy so the thought of food is easier on the weekends. Or maybe if you hubby is working during the week we tend not to eat as much and then on the weekends it is easier to eat when someone else accompanies us. Yes I can see me eating more on the weekends as when my boyfriend is around we tend to eat more. lol

Hihihih... That's right HWG. How come it really feels good to eat more on weekends? I'm not complaining though, hihihi... I'm just curious.

It happens dear. We also do the same. We usually have a feast on weekends because it is that time of the week where we are not in a rush to do things. Usually on a weekday, we hardly have time to enjoy our meal specially breakfast since we need to be on the road before we get stuck in traffic. I usually look forward for weekends, because hubby prepares us a sumptuous meal that we can share and enjoy with one another.

That's nice, sweet_pea. It's the contrary for my hubby and I though. It's the time we go out and relax. On weekdays, I would usually cook for 2. We stay in most of the time since he would like to rest after work. So, no time to go out. hihihi..

Of course! The same thing happen to me! I guess is because, on the weekends, is when I see my parents and my sister, so, we go out a lot to eat. That's our favorite thing to do!

That's another reason to eat! And eat a lot at that. However, after pigging out, I do feel guilty for eating too much. I would instantly say to myself that I really need to go to the gym longer for this.
