At last it's real now. Cesc Fabregas has just signed a 5 year deal with Barcelona finally. The deal was worth 39 million Euro for Arsenal. Finally the on again and off again saga comes to an end. But where does this leave Arsenal now, with Clichy and Fabregas already out, Nasri and Eboue on the phone lines to make their moves as well. What are your views on the Arsenal prospects this season? Cheers! Ram

Hi ram, I think it is the right time for Cesc Fabregas to move to Barcelona. After 6 empty hand years at Arsenal, player with Fabregas stature would definitely think something must be wrong somewhere and it must be fixed or otherwise get out from it. With Fabregas and Clichy already out, Nasri and Eboue still not sign a new contract mean they can anytime go somewhere else, Arsenal become very unsettle just after one game. Arsenal need to settle all their unsettle player quickly and find a good replacement before there is too late for it. Every player, in and out, would effect the playing flow and need time to master it and it is different from one team style and others. The problem with Wenger is he think he is a businessmen where bank account balance is more important then trophy cabinet. He prefer go for untested young player then older and experience player. Young player is important for the club because they were the future but at the same time they also need someone to guide then on the field, someone with experiences. This is where Wenger lack. If Wenger cannot find the replacement for Fabregas, I am sure that Arsenal would countinue their empty hand season for another year.

Akuler, I agree with you that 6 years without title would really have hurt him. I think most probably Nasri and Eboue will follow him out as well. So this is going to be another season of settling down for Arsenal!! Cheers! Ram

The new team members will also take time to adjust themselves. They will need time to adopt their playing style. EPL is the most competitive league in the world and hear loosing momentum is crucial.

Arsenal is the best team in EPL when we are concerned with playing beautiful football. But that is not everything. They should have something in their cabinet. According to reports, they are the richest club in England. But they don't spend money in transfer windows. Arsene Wenger only relies on homegrown talents. In this way they are loosing their ground in the title race. Other clubs like Liverpool, Man City, Man U, Chelsea all are spending heavily in buying players. So all other clubs are strengthening their teams. But Arsenal is incapable of holding their players and weakening their team. But very recently they have defeated Barcelona with an impressive display. Its only Wenger's stubbornness and lack of ambition that is affecting Arsenal's performance. A top 4 finish for them is looking far out of sight. Only if other teams perform poorly, they have a chance of a Top 4 finish.

Yes, five barren seasons is really bad for any club and for a club of Arsenal's stature it is disastrous. I expected them to break their trophy drought when they reached the finals of the Carling Cup. But they goofed up big time in the finals. Hopefully this might be the season whey they will break the drought. Let's wait and watch. Cheers! Ram

yes..hope so. They are a good team but very unlucky. They need some serious attention in defense. I don't understand why they don't strengthen their squad.

ram_cv, To be honest, I am quite disgusted with these signings and much more with this particular one. For one, Cesc came to me as a loyal Gunner where he had openly announced on many occasions that he would stay than sign with Barcelona. I suppose money talks and this one certainly did. As for the team, we will be seeing a much stronger and attacking team this season. Barcelona, looks like the team to beat again.

welcome back to Nou camp.. i think all barca player and fans welcome cesc like a son will come back to his father home for arsenal side, Arsene wenger must rebuild again his team... He must seek another player will replace role of Cesc.. He can trust Van Persie as new captain..But Van persie must be accompanied with many good player if wenger can`t get a good player, RVP will move too... with a chance for losing Nasri and Eboue, Wenger must do quickly to get some of good player.. Gervinho is good, but it`s not enough for them

I agree this is going to be another season of rebuilding for Arsenal. Not only Cesc, but Nasri, Eboue and Bendtner will all be going out of Arsenal. So it would be interesting to see how they will pan out this season. Cheers! Ram

i think it`s sad decision but you must understand that Cesc is really missing his hometown of course Wenger had hold the best but he must understand too his man request i think wenger had no option and must buy one or two good player

And about time too. The transfer saga had gone on for too long and it will have an effect in the team morale. Without a doubt, Cesc is a class act and Arsenal will miss his vision. But Cesc is no captain material. He gives up too easily and since Wenger build the team around him, they have not won anything. With his departure, the manager will have find another way to play. For better or worse, Arsenal's prospect depends on who they will get in the remaining period of the transfer window. But I think it is too late now to do any major signing and I think this will be a long and hard season for all Gunners.

I completely agree with you on the morale front. In fact, I am pretty sure that it has had this effect in the last two years as well. So in fact, Arsene Wenger might also be happy to move on from here. Cheers! Ram
