In my country, whenever I need to leave my mom's premise, I need to kiss her on the cheek. And she doesn't like me to have the back of her hand placed on my forehead but she allows for others to do it to her. Cheek kissing is a universal form of greeting another person. I've read in Wikipedia that there is a wide range of places that use the cheek kissing gesture such as North America, Latin America,Southern Europe, Netherlands, Macau, the Arab World and Turkey but what about India, China, Japan, India or even Russia? Same here. If we have 12 aunts and uncles, we have to kiss all of them including their husbands and wives.

Showing respect to our parents is very important. To us in our family, whenever we arrive home, we always hug and kiss our parents along with getting their hands and putting it on our forehead. We always do that to show our respect to them. Whenever we leave our small abode way back in our hometown, we also kiss our parents and hug them before leaving. I think showing respect to them is one way of showing how we love them as our parents.

The smaller the abode the closer the family, that's what I like to say. Most families who live in smaller homes have closer relationships than very rich ones, don't you think? But, I'm not saying that rich families don't love each other, it's just when you live in a smaller house with a large tendency to sleep together and eat together, bondings become stronger.

Hi kwylima. What's an Alain? Since I live in a conservative country, a kiss on the cheek or the back of their hand on our forehead called "mano" is still widely practiced here.
