Hello there! Each of us are looking forward for our birthday every year. Celebrating birthdays is a tradition that is practiced in the whole world. I have a nephew, during the first 12 months since he was born, his mom is celebrating every month. but do you think when you reached the age of 30, would you still celebrate your birthday? Last June, my dad celebrates his 48th birthday and when I asked him what would he like to have on his birthday, he just told me that he wants nothing but to go in church and thank God that he reached that age. But I insist and I asked my mom to cook his favorite food. I am just wondering why some older people do not want to celebrate their birthdays anymore. is it because they don't want to remember their age since they are no longer young? What do you think? At you age now, do you still celebrates your birthday?

Last week it was my 26th birthday and I wasn't really looking forward to it. I just had no reason to really celebrate it.

Well, I would definitely love to celebrate my birthday. But I can't make all arrangements and buy gifts for myself. Our friends or family members or our beloved should be interested in making our birthday a big day! This has never happened to me as of now! I just buy a new dress for myself.. I am just 23 and would very well love to celebrate my birthday with surprises if ever I get a chance!

We are in the same age. Like you, during my birthday, I just simply treat myself by just buying what I want. last February, my dad gave me money as his birthday gift for me because according to him he is afraid of buying something which I would not like so rather he gave me money so that I could buy what i want. But definitely,I wouldn't mind whatever he will gave me as long as it comes to him I will appreciate it. It's the thought that counts. :-P

I do still celebrate my birthday, but it is a little different than how I did when I was younger. Now I am happy with having friends over for movies and dinner. This year a few friends and I went to dinner and celebrated not only my birthday but a few anniversaries and my friends getting engaged.

Yes, I do. I like celebrating my birthday even if I don't have money during that time. In whatever way, I would have to celebrate it. Even if the celebration is only a lunch with a friend or group of friends, as long as it would be a happy day. It also doesn't matter if I don't have a birthday cake.

Maybe they do not want to remember their age but still they will appreciate if someone will remember their birthday or if someone gives them a surprise party. My in laws always throw me a simple dinner. and i am thankful with that. I just hope someone will throw me a surprise party. Im 28 but i still want to celebrate the date that God made me and give me a chance to live in his world.

Yes, I agree. For me, I will always celebrate my birthday and I will not mind my age. I am thankful that God gave me another year to live and for me that is the reason why I should celebrate it.:-P

When my mom's bday comes around she never really wants to do much and normally says something about how when you're younger it's always exciting to get older when your young but when you get older it's not something to celebrate anymore. I'm only 16 but since I was like 12 the most I've done for my birthday is have a BBQ (and btw I'm a vegetarian) so I don't feel like it's really for me but when I'm older I don't think I'll celebreate my birthday

Maybe I am right that older people do not want to celebrate their birthdays because they don't want to remember that they are growing older each year.. Thank you for the response. Have a great day!

I still try to do a little something on my birthday. I don't usually do much. But I still like to do a little something with a few friends, or something like that. It doesn't have to be much, but it's just a little something.

Birthday Girl - A cake for her birthday.
The more you age, the more you have reasons to celebrate your birthdays my dear. So even up to 100 or more, you have all the reasons to rejoice because every year added to your life is a blessing. Of course we can always celebrate without necessarily spending lavishly. Preparing some food for the family and some close friends would be fine and usually somebody closest to you should be in charge of all the preparations anyway. Of course it is not like a child blowing her cake anymore but if a cake is still there for blowing even when you are not young anymore then the better.

hi:) Yes I still celebrate my birthday every year, and mostly I have two celebrations, one is with my family and second is with my friends, we go to bars or malls just to celebrate then at home my mom will cook and we will do picnic or just celebrate my birthday there, my family and relatives will come to celebrate with us, but I noticed that too that oldies don't want to celebrate anymore if you just ask them, like my grandpa, last month was his birthday, so when my mom and aunt ask him where he wants to celebrate his birthday he just say no need to celebrate because he is already old and he is getting tired, but still my mom and my aunt cook for him and invite all the relatives and family member, and we can tell from his face that he is happy celebrating his birthday also.

Yes I still celebrate my birthday. My birthday is an extra special day because it is also the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary celebrated by the Christian Catholics. It doesn't matter how simple the celebration is, what is important is that I am happy to know that I have family and friends to help me continue exploring and going through happiness and hardships of life.

Dear friend I love to celebrate my birthday with close friends and family . Usually I give a seperate treat to my friends somewhere outside . It's never the extravgant one . My mom cooks my special dishes and a special sweet dish . We pray at home and seek God's blessings . I also spend some money for charity on this day . As you said my parents also are not interested to celebrate their birthday except for silent prayers to God . But I give them gifts and cook for them their favourite dishes .

I don't celebrate my birthday anymore. I really haven't since I was around 20. I'm 40 now so it's been around 20 years I haven't celebrated my birthday. I went out to dinner few times with few of my friends but that's about it. I don't know if that counts as celebration. Ever since I was a kid, I never really made a big deal out of my birthdays. I'm a new years day baby, too, so there's enough going around already.

Yeah, I still celebrate my birthday but not as grand as when I was young. What I do is I just go out with friends or family and have a good time (drink booze). Since I turned 17, I think, my birthday celebration had been like that. I don't invite friends and relatives at home and prepare food anymore. I think those are just for kids, I'm already 26.

Well not really celebrate, but there are times where I take it a bit more lighter on my birthday. There are times where I visit with family, open a couple of gifts or something like that. Perhaps enjoy a nice dinner or something like that. Nothing really huge, nothing really ground breaking, but it does take me aback that another year has passed. I think that when I was younger, there are a lot of times where my birthday was a huge mega event that I got all excited about. As I get older, it becomes less so. I think that when I really get even older than that to say the very least, it will be, "wow another year, where does the time so" and even older than that, it will lead to some slightly bitter thoughts. Time does in fact fly by rather quickly for sure.

i will always celebrate my birthday :) as i get older i may not want to because it means i'm getting older haha.. but i will always, because it's celebrating another year of your life. not everyone celebrates st patricks day, or easter, or christmas.. but everyone in the world universally celebrates their birthday :)

I'm still young and I still celebrate my birthday but only with friends though. My parents don't really care about birthdays. My own dad doesn't even remember my birthday. They sometimes buy me gifts but I tell them I don't want anything. At school, my friends which chip in for a present and cake and we would celebrate at school. My Mum goes that her birthdays remind her how old she's getting and she'd rather something that would make her feel younger.

In our family, its our tradition to celebrate our birthday every year, because for us it is a blessing of god that he has given you another year of being alive, so even though we are all grown-ups in our family we make it a habit to celebrate our birthdays.
