I understand it well enough, you have yet to explain its relevance here or form your thoughts into coherent structure all the best urban

Yes, bring out that truth!! I could never understand why people feel they need a middleman between them and God. We should all be able to stand on our own two feet. Your example clearly shows what happens when people follow blindly. They can end up anywhere. Truth always finds a way to the surface in time.

You are correct in saying we need no middle man, Jesus alone stands as mediator atwixt man and God all the best urban

Yes, that is the meaning I intended. We need no middle man because we already have such. God, having being omnipotent has both finite and infinite potentialities. His infinite nature is necessarily beyond our comprehension. The finite cannot grasp the infinite. His finite nature is comprehensible. Thus God must necessarily appear to have two natures, though of course these are one. all the best urban

We already knew that people are susceptible to sin, no matter how "saved" they may claim to be. To me it's no different than a professional of any career being exposed as a fraud.

Hi tessah, There is far too much of this in the Christian church today, and it's sad that more people don't understand that talk is cheap. People need to think for themselves. I feel sorry for the gentleman as he himself had clearly never found peace. Blessings.

Many people, likely most, have a need to belong to something bigger. For those that do not get that "belonging" from family and friends, there will always be ones seeking a group. Unfortunately this includes religious groups run by charismatic leaders. I'm sure the Romans and many Jews felt the same way about Jesus and his followers at the time. At least Jesus didn't have to worry about being caught breaking his own rules. Some say he just didn't live long enough to start enjoying the limelight too much. If it is true that we are all weak and not above temptation and/or there is constant pressure from the Devil to get us to fall, then we cannot look to the example of others when finding our way. "Do as I say, not as I do" was coined for this very situation. We all are responsible for our own journey through life and we can take the words of others and make them a beacon for ourselves without concern for how the speaker or writer actually spends their life. My point is simply that we cannot ridicule this pastor's "flock" for blindly following his leadership and not catching his duplicity. The followers are there for the good they can take from his leadership and should not be considered foolish for following a man who turned out to be weak. Were the potential to be caught in scandal a disqualification for church leadership, there would be no church leadership.
