now a days the technology has given us a new invention, battery driven. Which has also a good speed of k mph .So if I tell you to choose between petrol/diesel car or battery driven car which one you will select and why? I will of course select the battery car because it will reduce the pollution as there is no gas formation. So by this I can be a part of saving my own world. Some people thinks that the diesel/petrol car is really cool to drive. I also admit that yes it is cool but knowing that it damages the ozonsphere and having also an option like battery will still decide to drive this cars? What is your opinion friends? Share here. AND also if anyone have bought any battery driven car, please share your car name story of driving that car with us,some people may get inspired by that. Also you can suggest some good battery driven cars because I am also planning to buy one. Thanks.

No rameshpk. I want both of the facilities because when you are travelling a long distance and your battery charge drains out. Then we will have the provision for a fuel engine.

I think batter driven car are also hurting the environment.... why? because we need diesel/petrol in order for the electricity to run.... if the electricity runs.... it can charge batteries need to make the car running... therefore.... battery driven cars is like using diesel/petrol.... i am right or wrong? just correct me if i'm wrong...

yes you are right, but i think whole of its not true. If you use a diesel car and a battery car, which one will cause maximum pollution? And of course the battery components can cause pollution but a battery have a lifetime of at least three years.

yes mantis. the technology is improving, who know may be we will be able to use solar power battery. Though in china it is already invented. Also there will be one when we can charge the battery with wind power and many more renewable sources.

maybe i choose battery powered.... if that battery is charged through solar panels when low bat.....

This is great. This reduces energy consumption. This is also eco-friendly. But there are some problems associated with it. You are from India. One of my friend bought a battery driven car some months ago. he says it gives a decent mileage. he only needs to charge it. That's all. But after charging it to the full capacity it can travel upto a limited distance. This distance is more than enough if you want to hover around your hometown or city. But these type of cars are not suitable for long drives. this is a serious drawback. We should have some zones where we can charge our cars. Like petrol pumps, this type of charging stations should be found everywhere. Anyways, its a great idea. Environment is the main concern these days and its an appreciable effort. I will ask my friend and tell you the detail of the car shortly.

Thanks for sharing debs90. Yes i have also heard that the mileage and the charging is really a big problem. Because as you said if the distance it covers is so short then i think i will also have change my opinion of buying an electric car :D . Please do provide the detail of the car. Because when we go out of home and and drive a car a we can't say clearly that is it going to be a long drive or short.

There are somethings which look good on TV. But before buying anything you should know about it thoroughly. After all its a big investment.

I prefer big cars (SUV) as in my opinion are the safest. The technology is not enough advance to created electric SUV ( that would be perfect), so I have to use petrol. Many times I've seen electric cars and I don't like it. They still look like bigger version of bicycle. Also I had occasion to drive Hybrid car but also I did not like it. So I will stay with petrol car.

koperty that is right that the electric cars are not at all cool looking. But someday technology will be able to build an electric SUV car. :)

I would love to own a hybrid car. I read that the Toyota Prius is the world's no. 1 selling hybrid vehicle. Though the electricity used to charge electric vehicles comes from coal or petrol in my country time will come that renewable energy will replace the traditional sources. This will have a lower impact on the environment.

using renewable energy is a good option. But how will you re-fuel your car?

When alternative sources (windmills, solar, hydro, geothermal) to generate electricity are enhanced, I would not have a problem refueling my car. Electricity one day will be cheaper and greener. Thanks

Just ask yourself, where does the electricity come from to charge your car batteries? Most power stations in many countries are coal/gas powered, so using an electric car is still causing pollution, just moving it about a bit. Also batteries for cars are very expensive and need replacing every 5-7 years (they cost more than many brand new petrol cars.) How far can you go on one charge? Many electric cars have a range of less than 100 miles and require 10-15 hours charge (depending on the car). I believe that hybrid cars are more beneficial (even though they are still expensive as well), they have some of the benefits of battery cars, but won't run out of power after 100 miles. Remember also, that most petrol cars are now very much more efficient than they were even 10 years ago, with much reduced CO2, and are improving over the years. I am not keen on Diesel cars because they actually do cause particle pollution which can be harmful to health.

Hi Anitoton. I am not bothered about the speed but with the cost of petrol and diesel rising in India I would prefer battery driven car. Also as you say they are environment friendly.Battery operated cars might be better if smaller and also it requires low maintenance.

I would always prefer a battery driven car as it would have least adverse effect on environment among all of the types of cars you have mentioned.

thanks,at least i have got another battery car supporters.though the petrol cars are good in long run but looking at the environment we should choose move on to the battery cars.
