What is more important to you: sportsman spirit or win in a game?

M.L.Dhoni, skipper of Indian Test Cricket team now visiting the UK, called back Bell, an English Test cricketer, as a token of sportsman spirit and lost the second Test against England. The same attitude was shown by G.R.Vishwanath during his tenure as a captain in the centenary Test of India against England at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai and England had won that match too. So, similar to that incidence, the present one is bringing again the same issue to the forefront which is more important of the two: the spirit of the game or a mere wins in the game. What is your opinion about this controversial issue?

for me id pick sportsman spirit..having that kind of spirit lets you enjoy the game and even make you win..sometimes if you are just aiming for a win it lets you think negative stuff that will help you win a game..

as far as i concern i like to go with sportsman spirit, without this feeling we cant play, playing just for winning is not a good thing,it shows your nature, but in second test there is no need to call back bell as dhoni shows his presence of mind and bell has done stupidity,so from my point of view the decision of calling back bell was not right.

For me it is how you played the game and not how you won the game.If you know you didn't played fair, you will not really feel the joy of being congratulated for you know deep inside , it was all a fake. But if you lose the game and you know you did your best. you will always feel hopeful and strive hard to do better next time around.

Being a Footballer what I have learn is Sportsman spirit is more valuable than win and I am very much grateful to my coach who taught me this way because it helped me lot in real life and I never found any deep wound because of this behavior :D

A win with sportsman spirit is always welcome. At times things are not in your favor and you lose a game. winning or losing is a result but the sportsman ship we have through out the game is to be talked about. So one should always maintain this spirit and not get upset if you are not losing.

hi:) I think the spirit of the game is more important than winning, It's how you play the game with dignity and being fair to other player. nice post by the way:)

It all depends on whom you ask. Sportsmanship is key for kids in little league baseball but winning it what matters to pro American Football owners.

I think winning the game is in the forefront of most people's minds but when they lose track of the spirit of the game then they might as well hang it up. If you lose you just try harder the next game. I think alot of people lose track of what the game is all about and freak if they don't win.

When you are not winning the game is better not to take advantage of minor technicality. In any case India would have lost reinstate bell or not. I think Dhoni has done a right thing.

it depends upon the reasons of every person... but for me, i rather choose WIN IN A GAME because i believe that second placer is the first looser.... the winner takes it all, the looser has to fall.
