She's getting bigger...

Nenya's 5 months old and twice the size she was when I brought her home. I used to rock her back and forth and call her my "baby kitten", and it wasn't that long ago. I knew she had to grow, but it makes me kinda sad that I won't be able to call her my little kitten anymore. She's gonna be such a beautiful cat.
(and she'll always be my baby kitten... even when she's old!)
Anybody else feel that pang of sadness when their little kitten grows up? Or is it just me in my first-cat woes?

A few, but I think I'll start a new discussion for them.

They calm down when they leave the kitten phase? Really? That sounds way too good to be true. Thanks for the welcome! I'm a new member to the cat owner club, but I've wanted to be a member forever.... does that count for something? lol And I'm getting her spayed in October when she's 6 months old.

When i read the name of the discussion i though that you are talking about your little baby :) You are wright! They grow so fast! It's great when you can "put them in your pocket" and take then everywhere. But it's the same little kitty you took home so hug her and you'll see!

Well she never really fit in my pocket. But I could carry her on top of a paperback book. It was funny. She doesn't fit on a little paperback anymore... her back legs hang off.
She still crawls under the bed-covers and then cries like she's lost. lol That's gotta be kitten behavior.

When my Ringo was born he was such a tiny little peanut, he could fit in the palm of my hand. But, you should see what a monster he has become after only 5 1/2 months! Another cat, Cookie, was so small that she was the runt of the litter. Now she is fully grown, but she is still small and slender. I like them better when they are tiny.

Hmmm... I don't know that I liked her better when she was tiny... but it was so much fun being able to hold her in one hand and watch her jump up on things twice her size.
She's almost full-grown cat size now.

Yea, they grow super fast. Even though she's not a kitten anymore, she's still your baby! You can still spoil her with love. That's what I do with my cats. I still think they are my little babies. Besides there's not much change, they're still SO CUTE!!

lol yes... I do think cats are still way cute! And my Nenya's gonna be the world's most beautiful cat, and I'll scoop her her and call her my baby kitten the rest of her life.

Yes, I feel that way about my dogs all the time and was even thinking about it today. When I brought home my dogs, my 8 y/o could hold one and I could hold both. This was when they weighed about 10-12 pounds..Now at over 50 pounds, I can barely hold one and if my 9 y/o son tried holding one down to keep her from getting away, she can literally move him... I miss those days, when they were so small, but our babies have to grow..:)

I know. But they REALLY grow fast! Not like when you're talking about kids... kids take years to grow. My kitten has been home with me for a few months, and she's already almost cat-sized! I almost wish I could hold her in one hand for another year. I can still kinda hold her in one hand... but she's not comfortable at all! lol

I love looking at newborn kittens. They are so tiny they can fit in the palm of your hand. It is so beautiful. I wish they could stay that size forever. But, in less than a month, they will grow into monsters. I still love them, but it is disappointing.
