You can find information about different processors online using those CPU benchmark sites. They will have it's performance level, and compare it to other CPU's/processors on the same bracket. For some earlier versions, they will have price benchmarks for them as well, however for the newer versions say a month old processor technology like the latest AMD A6 series, they will still lack that price information.
try, www.cpubenchmark.net, they should have prices for different processors and its performance levels.
Furthermore, upgrading the processor of your PC is a delicate process, You will need a motherboard that has compatible CPU sockets for the specific processor your buy, as for example, a motherboard with intel socket, cannot accommodate a motherboard with an AMD socket, vise verse. It is quite difficult if you don't have steady hands, as there are tiny spikes when attaching the processor chip. And if they were to be damaged, your motherboard will not read the chip.
So, I highly suggest to purchase a built computer, or have a friend or technician who is well versed on computers help you out on building/upgrading your PC.

... and your existing RAM chips may well not fit the new mobo. If your old PC is over 18 months old then it would be using DDR2 chips and the new board would use DDR3 memory.
Putting in the new CPU is very easy now with modern sockets. Drop it in the right way round (match the triangle on the corner) and pull the lever down. More care is needed with the cooling fan as a bit of force is needed and care must be taken not to slip.

If you're in the market for an entirely new computer, just go to any major companie's website ex hp, dell sony etc and compare priceses. Each computer they have on sale will tell you what processor it's using, what memory it has etc. A lot of sites can adjust the price based on what spects and special extras you're looking for, like an extra power suply for a laptop for example.
