Do not misunderstand!

Sometimes in our earnest to respond in mylot we read hastily that we tend to misunderstood the gist of the discussion resulting to misunderstanding. I am thankful to those people who would politely pinpoint the mistake and clear up the misunderstanding. Forgive me but i hate it when someone still insists on what they believed despite the clarification of the person who started the discussion.
To avoid such misunderstanding please let's open our mind and comprehend the discussion before jumping to arguments.

Yes that happens from time to time and although I try my hardest to understand I won't get into arguments though. I am comfortable with knowing that I did my best to clarify and if the member is still insistent I have to forgo.
I come here for enjoyment and relaxation of my mind and can't for the life of me ever see me getting into a strong tiff here. I get enough of that offline so here I won't. Therefore, I do feel that I am completely open minded while interacting here.

OH so true. When i have clarified things and he still couldn't get what i mean and keeps on insisting and creating more confusion, i just let that person be.

Spoken by a guilty person! Of course it isn't you. I was just disappointed by one person who responded to me this morning and despite my effort to clarify things to him, he's still all messed up!

I always feel guilty though, like all the time! Ask my partner haha! If shes running around the house, and suddenly shouts “oh for f*cks sake!!” I’m like, “what, what’d I do??” and shes all, “nothing, I tripped, why’d you think it was you?” lol! .. and if we’re driving down the road, even if I’m in the passenger side and not even driving, and the police pull up beside us, and I KNOW I haven’t done anything wrong, I still start to feel guilty and panic haha!

Hi Toni!
It is true that sometimes, when we are in a hurry, we tend to misunderstood crux of the discussion and respond according to our own thinking and vision. If I respond to a discussion in an incorrect manner and the host or some other user points it out to me, I gracefully accept my mistake and make corrections. I believe that we are all human and we tend to commit inadvertent mistakes. (If am unable to comprehend any of your posts/comments/responses, please feel free to point it out.)

Hello Dee! You have a very admirable attitude by accepting your own fault when corrected. I respect those people who know how to accept their mistakes rather than those who would insist on their crooked beliefs.
Yes nobody is perfect, but we should learn how to listen or to open our eyes to someone who tries to help by clarifying things instead of messing it up more by being too proud.

I do not feel bad accepting my mistake because I am aware that mistakes do occur erroneously or unintentionally. I do not try to justify my mistake. I am open to learning and improving.

What I've personally encountered a lot of as of late is that the OP didn't include all of the important information before starting a discussion likely to garner unfavorable and argumentative responses. Often times, had they been more wise in their wording or kindly stopped withholding information, people would know....

That is so true and i have encountered such thing too, but i would usually inquire on full details. But what i'm referring to here is the inability to comprehend due to the language and despite being corrected and clarified would still insist on what they have understood which was wrong.

I know what you mean as I have been a victim of such a situation when someone supposedly put up a topic referring to my topic totally giving a different picture and when I responded to that topic and explained, yet the user went on and on ignoring my explanation and it is at that time that I lost a star.

Me too. And i got stuck to 9. But i don't mind at all. I'm still here in mylot and i'm still enjoying the privileges of sharing my thoughts and gaining more friends.

yes, i noticed that too to some responses on some of my discussions. I ask them to clarify and they would. But still, it's hazy.
Your are right, maybe they are just in a hurry to get done with their answer and earn , so much so, that even if their responses are sometimes impertinent, they would post it.
Sad, but some people are really like that. Some would also be insistent with their opinion, so i would just let go of the argument.

It's really sad isn't it? No matter how much we try to help them understand and clarify things up they refused. STubborn as a mule. Really don't like that kind of attitude.

Or could it be too, that they don't understand English well, since it's not their second language like us?

That's the whole point of this discussion, but they should learn to read the clarification and not insist on their mistakes. That makes me really disappointed.

Hello toni, I believe we just have to understand those people because some can really misinterpret the discussion. we can't always tell the clarification if they didn't understand the discussion. well, i had the same misunderstanding with a mylotter in her response but i had apologize and determine to read and analyze first before we can conclude. have anice day

This is a excellent advice. It is easy to misunderstand or misinterpret something from just a few sentences. I think it's best to ask someone to clarify their comments if you aren't sure. In any case, being rude is not acceptable. I really haven't seen rudeness here but I have seen it on other boards. It's harder when one can't see facial expressions or hear the tone of voice.

Yes. The responder should thourougly read the whole discussion first before answering. And I hope the respondents will be kind in sharing their thought or if they will hav no good to say, just don't answer

This is so true - there have been many times when I have read responses to discussions that are just really off track with what the person who started the discussion was speaking about. Far better to just clear up any misunderstandings as soon as possible!

The problem is if you've cleared it up and the person still insisted on what he understood it to be.

You have brought up a very good point here. I am just as guilty of it at points too. But as many others have said to you I don't mind being corrected at all. In fact I think it helps build a better communication and understanding base. At the same time though I will openly admit that I am kind of drawn to debates, so sometimes that side of me takes over just for the sake of having a debate. I hope it never offends anyone and if it does that they are willing to let me know.

Glad that you discussed this. Yes, sometimes I noticed this kind of misunderstanding in some of the discussions here. Though we are all have our own opinion, let us not take it so serious that we might hurt someone through that misunderstanding.
Let us just respect each others opinion. :-P

So true but i'm not referring to differences in opinion here but lack of comprehension of the English language. Some people misunderstands and would immediately rant and complain when they haven't even understood what the message is. And even though it was already explained to them, they still insisted on what they have understood as they have closed their mind already.
I don't want to say that those people are stupid but they should learn how to comprehend. It's like they don't know how to listen at all even though they have ears.
