Etoo move to russia
Samuel Etoo moved to Russia, to the rich club that will pay him and make the player with the highest salary
Many regretted his move to the League which is not much better than Italian League
What is he looking for?
Money?
whether this is a step backwards do you think?

Eto'o has won everything he could in club football and he now decided to choose money instead of international spotlight. I don't consider the Russian league better than the Italian, but the Russian league is not so bad either. Don't forget that Eto'o is not so young anymore, and he needs to secure his life after his career will be ended, which I think is not so far anymore. And yes, I am sure he has chosen this move because of the money, but he will have many difficult games, as Zenit, Rubin, CSKA, Lokomotiv and many other clubs are pretty strong there as well.

This is the only logical explanation. Anzhi is not a team which has history and I cannot see why an African, who loves warm weather would want to go to Russia, where is very cold. So the huge amount of money can be the only logical explanation which comes to my mind.

Last year itself his name was associated with a Dubai club for a high money move. Somehow at the last moment Eto'o backed out of that move. This season he has gone ahead with the move. So I do not think I am very surprised by this. Anyhow Eto'o is reaching the end of his career and if he is making some money no one can regret it.
Cheers!

I guess Etoo was not motivated only by money when he chose to move to Russia.Obviously money is very important for him and he wants to earn as much as he can in the years left until the end of his career, but it's also true that he still wants to play at a competitive level, otherwise he would have chosen an Arab league. The fact is that the Russian league is getting stronger and stronger, and there are teams like Zenit,Rubin,CSKA and,who knows, maybe even Anzhi Makhachkala, who might reach the final of the Champions League. They've already done that in Europa League,so if they keep on making massive investments they will attract more world class players like Etoo and they will be stronger and stronger.
