I observed that most people if not all here on mylot have star beside their screen names. I do not have it yet, maybe because i rarely participated since i was also busy these days.
Can you enlighten me the significance of this symbol as a mylot member?
Thanks (^_^)

Hi Dear Miessy! Having gone to the profile of yours,I have noticed that you have joined this site two months back and till today you have got only 87 postings to your credit! In fact after getting 100 point score which is shown in the bracket after our names we get a star!
This star indicates the rating of our discussion and it is decided by the members who go through our discussions! There is s rating button after every discussion or he response, we can give our rating accordingly to our liking! But frequent negative ratings can be detrimental not only to the other participants who are getting it, sometimes admin can takeaction against such people who are rating negative for no apparent reason! Difference in opinion may not be a factor for awarding a negative rating!
Generally negative ratings are given when a member is indulging in activities which is breaking the guidelines of the forum! Now depending upon this star ratings our earnings are also getting affected ! A person with blue star with 10 may earn more than a person with tar rating of 7! Thus to increase the star rating we need to work hard and post some quality posting to show our proficiency on this site! And this will automatically get us a good star ratings and this earnings will be increased along with our popularity on the site!
Please go through the FAQ and Guidelines section of this site to get all the pertinent details and please participate actively to increase your score more than 100 to get a star of your own! All the best and Happy Mylotting!

Hello Dear sjvg! I fully agree with you that there is no point in getting into heated discussions for no reasons1 just difference in the opinion may not mean that we should give negative rating1 Like you, so far I too never rated anyone negative! As you are saying I simply ignore such discussions witch I feel that it is not suitable for me to participate in and go for the appropriate discussion to respond! Thanks a lot for the comment! Take care! All the best!
Dear Miessy, you are very closed to get your star as you have already crossed 90 score it is the matter of another 9 or 10 responses! Please post some quality responses to get good reputation and if you have initial good reputation then it becomes easy to maintain it! So try to have a better rated star in the initial phase itself! All the best, Hope to see a star besides your user name by this time tomorrow! Thanks !

Hello AK Rao,
The best way to deal with such case is to leave that discussion if you are involved in it as this is social site and lots of people watch you we should not fight with words and should always respect each others opinions.
But then too i have never given -ve rating for this to anyone . I rate -ve to the person only if i find him giving wrong information and that also happens rarely and looks awkward to me.
We should not rate -ve for opinion difference as all people think differently and in that case there can be difference of opinions and thats good for discussion also.

thanks akrao24 and sjvg for the kind responses of my topic. I appreciate your concern especially for the negative commentator. yes, as individuals, we have to respect each other's opinion regardless whether who is right and who is wrong. We are all given the chance to express in a good way without using bad words. As for the star I am longing for, maybe I can get this when i have my free time to do mylot often.

It is true that this is covered in the frequently asked questions, and it is also a frequent topic of discussions, but it is just as easy for me to tell you that you will receive your star at 100 posts. The color and number in it reflects how you have been rated for your first one hundred participation posts. You want the higher numbers. These are affected by how people mark you with + or -. You will be able to rate others at 100 as well. Good luck. Get busy and maybe tomorrow we will see what kind of star you have.

Hello miessy24,
Star is reflection of your reputation on MYLOT and it will appear against your name once you reach activity rating of (100).
It is calculated on the basis of ratings given by other users on your responses so more the + ratings you get good will be your reputation so best thing is to respond with quality content.
10 Blue star is the best one.Your reputation is linked with your earnings so try to get good reputation here on MYLOT.

Stars represents our reputation. I even asked this when I am a newbie here in mylot. You will soon get your star when you reached 100 post. The number of stars actually depends on the rating that we can have by creating a quality post and also by responding to every discussions that members are posting here.
