When we were kids, our father is the one who would spank us on our butt with his belt, whenever we commit a misdemeanor. Our mother would be the one who admonishes us for it, but doesn't spank us.
I guess, that combination, was a nice way of disciplining us, because we all grew up to be successful persons in our own field.

You have good parents.. they are a good combination.. it is not good for the child to hI believe that spanking sometimes is good and it is not child abuse but it is a way of disciplining a child.. I just cannot understand why would others consider this as child abuse!

I think, you cannot call a spanking on the butt a child abuse. But if ever, the child was hit at nay other parts of the body, then it can be child abuse.

Yes I agree with you miss simply but can you say about others who would resort to taking timeout on their child instead of spanking if the child becomes unruly, and to some use some harsh words as an alternative to spanking. But to me using harsh words has a more negative effect on the child than spanking because after you spank him and the pain goes away that's it while using harsh words will forever be embeded on the mind of the child.

In my case I would have to say mother as I was raised by my mom and she raised me to be a very respectful, dedicated, hard working young woman. I love my mom for the discipline that I have received growing up as a child as she made me who I am. In saying that I am also now a single mother of three beautiful young daughters that I myself also have to discipline myself as their father's aren't in their lives near enough well my two oldest anyway. My youngest daughters dad is around alot more she is lucky to have him.
