At first, I wouldn't agree to the physicians who diagnose me of having a hypertension due to stress. I'd already consulted 3 physicians and all of them had the same diagnose. Five or six years ago, I had an argument with my dad and up until now has not been resolve and after that I also had this feeling while walking that I was about to collapse in the middle of the heat and my head up to the back of my neck was so in pain and I had this feeling of dizziness. So I had to stop for a while and guard myself because I think I was going to fall down by anytime. Good thing I still manage to walk until I reached a shaded part and sat down for a while. After that incident I went to my family doctor and she suspect that I my kidney might be the problem. So yearly I have an annual general check up including blood test, CBC, URINE, Ultrasound, ECG, etc. just to figure what is wrong with my body and why do I have a hypertension. And yearly, the results are normal except for the hypertension of course. My kidney work perfectly fine, my blood cholesterol is normal. So they all asked me if I was stress, I just answered no, but I do have a major family problem that is very heavy and hard for me to handle. And so they all came up to the conclusion that my hypertension is due to stress. What do you think? And yes, I do take two maintenance drug of Amlodipine and Aspirin by the age of 22.

It is very possible that it is due to stress. Stress does terrible things to our bodies!!! Of course it is possible that it is also partly genetic. Does anyone else in your family have hypertension or heart disease? That could give you an idea of what to expect from your own life!! I hope the amlodipine and aspirin are taking care of your problems!! Of course the best thing you can do is try to find a way to relieve some stress - something you enjoy or someone to talk to.

My dad and his sister is hypotensive and also their heartbeat skips some times. We don't have any relatives that has hypertension, only HYPOtension. Yep, amlodipine do help but when I forget to take it or don't have enough money for to buy one, my blood will start to rise again. Uhm, playing with my dog relieves my stress momentarily =)

That is pretty crazy that your family members are hypotensive and you have hypertension at such a young age!! I work in a pharmacy and see people all of the time who arent able to afford their medications. It really is terrible!!! If you dont have insurance, make sure you look for discount cards - there are tons of them available for free that can make your medicine cheaper! Glad you have a way to relieve stress. Dogs really are a great part of life!!
