Am I the only girl in the world who DOESN'T know how to "do" her hair???

Call me weird, call me crazy, but I just never learned how to style my hair! I'm 18 and have never used a blow dryer, went to the salon ONCE and the hair style lasted 2 hours. I've tried using this thing called the InStyler but never had any success because I don't know how to "section" my hair. I've watched YouTube videos, seen pictures, but just have no luck. Maybe it's my lack of patience, I dunno.
I don't really have the money to go to the salon every other day/week, so I just deal with my hair by putting it in a pony-tail or wearing a hat. Now that I'm 18, though, I'm starting to feel childish with the pony tail, and boyish with the hats. I want to get away from them but have no idea where to start. Am I the only girl who has this problem? Please, tell me I'm not alone! Lol!!!

You are not alone girl. Like you, I also experience the same problem as yours. Every morning I am having a hard time fixing my hair. My hair is wavy and kinda think so I need to blow dry it after I take a bath.
Girls like us experienced what they call " bad hair day" and honestly sometimes I get paranoid on how to fix my hair. I am contented to pony tail it if I can't manage to fix it the way I want. So to tell you, you are not alone girl.

Unfortunately almost every day is a bad hair day for me, lol! I would be happy with a ponytail also if my hair wasn't so flat. I see some girls who look beautiful with just a pony tail, but they seem to have thicker, healthier hair than me. Or maybe they just use some product that I don't know about yet Either way, it's very annoying.

I am 24 years old and I still do not know how to domy hair I still rock the pony tail as well or I will straighten my hair with a flat iron. The only problem with wearing my hair down is it is naturally curly so when I straighten it and I sweat or it rains my hair frizzed Sometimes I want something different and a new look but it seems like I am challenged in that area of girliness I feel like a plain Jane. Sometimes when I get the money I go to the salon and get my swosh bang but then it eventually grows out and becomes one with the rest of my hair.

Hah! When you said "it seems like I am challenged in that area of girliness" I felt your pain! It seems like my hair is the ONE thing that I just cannot control. Like it has a mind of it's own. As for flat irons, I try to stay away from them because they really don't work on my hair. I think my hair is a mix between curly and wavy, and straightening never seems to work for me

There's nothing wrong with that. I didn't start using a blow dryer until I had to straighten my hair before work and didn't have time for it to air dry anymore. :) I was I think 19 at that point lol.
What you need to do is find something that works for YOU. It's hard to judge by what others do because no hair is exactly the same. For example, my hair is really curly and extremely thick and so it's really hard to do much with it because there's not much that it does unless I straighten it but I don't always have time to straighten it.
If you really want something new besides your pony tail look I would highly recommend going to a salon. Don't go with the thought of getting it styled but with getting a haircut that suits you. I've found that when I go get my hair cut it only looks good for that day and then I'm on my own so make sure it's a cut that you can manage yourself. I'm not sure what they charge where you are, but around here a haircut is $15 so I go a few times a year to get a bit of a different cut to my hair (and in fact I'll be going in the next couple of days too!).
But you're definitely not alone. :) I never really cared much about my hair because it was so thick and unmanageable until I turned about 16 and started straightening it so that I could actually do something with it! But even now I just like experimenting. I've got a 6 month old daughter so I don't get much time to spend on my hair so I like to try different styles and see what's easy to do in the morning and still looks good. You never know, if you start playing around with different things you might find even something simple that you like.

Glad I'm not alone. I'm so clueless when it comes to hair that I have a hard time even describing it...it's pretty thin, and dry mostly on the top of my head, and it's very frizzy. Ever since I went to the salon a few months ago for a haircut, the hair at the front-side of my head puffs out, so it looks really bad when I put it into a ponytail. Only thing that seems to help is leave-in conditioner.
I'm gonna start playing around, hopefully I'll find my perfect hairstyle soon, it's really getting annoying and I'm not a fan of going out with hats anymore :(

hi:)
The only hair do that I can do to my hair is let it down or put clips or tie it up, that 3 style only, if I need to go to the party and need to have a nice hair do that's when I will go to the salon, but it only happens twice or thrice a year. so I think if you know that 3 basic hair do then you'll be fine.:)

you are not the only one who doesnt do your hair. I dont do anything to my hair and I just let my hair on my backor do a pony tail. I bought a set of hair curler but I dont have time to do it, but maybe later I will do my hair. I dont think it is weird not to do our hair as long as we taking care our hair, wash the hair, give conditioner and hair vitamins. You dont have to go to saloon you can also do home hair spa or home creambath. I only go to salon to trim my hair. I like to have a long hair.
