How does a 13-year old such as I make money? Not like having a lemonade stand or anything like that- a LEGIT job (chore for neighbors) that can actually provide income.

When I was 13, I got a paper round which would take me two hours per week and I was paid $18 for that time. It was a good amount for someone of that age to earn, and it meant that I was able to save some money up for special occasions. When I turned 16 and it was legal for me to work longer hours, I took on another two rounds which meant that I was earning $55 per week; more than enough for any young person. It kept me fit, too, which was an added bonus really. Other than that, doing off jobs such as washing cars or gardening might be good for a young person who wants a little bit of extra cash without the trouble of having solid hours that they have to work to.

Besides the usual babysitting and running errands, is there anything you're particularly good at or enjoy? You might be able to help younger children in math or reading homework, for instance, or help with birthday parties.

I have a daughter that is 14 and she makes money babysitting. When I was that age I also babysat and walked dogs as well as running errands within walking distance for elderly and people that could not get out of their homes for other reason's.I raked leaves, mowed grass did some light cleaning around their houses, like washing windows. I was able to make enough money to buy some clothes, jewelry, posters and other stuff a teenager in the '70's bought.I could go out with friends for pizza or go up to the 7-11 and get a soda, that kinda' thing.
