How To Start and Be Paid Blogging?

Our posting here in Mylot is a sort of mini blog and I have made some minor research regarding how to blog but I believe that my information is still incomplete. Who among you here knows the steps on blogging? What sites would be the best one to start blogging with? Can I transfer from a site where I will be blogging for free to a site that I will be paying the web host later on when the blog picks up its own following? Can you give me some practical tips about this. Should I just save to pay for a web host rather than start with a free blog site? I researched that some sites pay you to blog for them from your site.

Thanks for the tip. I have written several reviews about Hostgator do you use them personally? It seems that there are available web host here in the Philippines but what concerns me more is that transferring from blogger to a paid site. Will that be a difficult process?

I used Hostgator before but I failed to manage my first site. 
There is a way to transfer your blog from blogger to Hostgator since you have the ability to use Wordpress on Hostgator and there's a way for you to download your blog from Blogger and upload it to a Wordpress platform. I haven't done it yet but there are a lot of instructional guides that I've read which shows that you can do it that way. Currently, my blog is just under 500K Alexa rank, so there's no need for me to use a paid webhosting site just yet.

Thanks for that suggestion. Anyways how were you able to see your rank in Alexa and what is Alexa by the way?
