There is a belief that if a man commits sin he will go to hell to under go punishment and if a man does good thing he will go to heaven to get the reward for his good deeds.
If a man suffers a lot in this life, some people say that he would have committed a lot of sin in his previous birth and that is why he is suffering. I cannot understand this because if a man commits sin he would undergo punishment in hell and what is the necessity to undergo punishment in this birth also. This tantamount to double punishment. Can anybody explain please?

I was raised Catholic and Hell was what I would call a scare-tactic to get you to obey. If you don't do good, you will burn forever in Hell. As an adult, I don't really think that the theory is meant to be taken literally. If I do good,I feel good and if I do bad, I feel bad...guilt is hell...that's just my theory. As for reincarnation...there is no hell. Reincarnation is returning to earth to learn from and correct the mistakes you made in your former life. There are many theorys on this and no facts. None of us will actually KNOW until the end and maybe not even then. Those that "claim" to know anything at all beyond this life, well, they don't know either. They just have strong beliefs which may or may not be right.

The idea that heaven or hell is a reward or punishment is common to Judaism and Islam but in Christianity heaven is not a reward but given freely through faith and grace.
The idea of being punished for wrongs done in a previous life comes from those religions espousing reincarnation and is incomparable with Christianity
What makes me, me is, at least in part, the sum of all I experience and do, that I should be punished for actions taken by a person in another life, who in no real sense of the word is me, is a terrible and evil injustice. It is a system invented by the rich and powerful to justify their oppression of the poor and weak

Well, I have never truy believed in the, if you son you go to hell. I believe as long as you believe in God and the Lord, he will welcome you into his kingdom. Sure, if you have done slot of crimes against the 10 commandments, then I'm sure you will go to he'll for it. Now, this whole cycle of "if someone suffers alot in there life it's because they sinned alot in their previous lifetime". I'm not sure if your talking about reincarnation, it might be apart of another religion or different belief

I really believe in heaven and hell. That's why Im afraid to die. Not only i will not be able to see my love one anymore, but i'm afraid to go to hell. I am not a saint. Not really a good person. So I have a little assurance that I will go to heaven.

I do believe on heaven and hell and the punishment involve but not the punishment on re-birth. I mean, you already done a lot of punishment in hell and after that you still have to be punish for the rest of your second life? I think one punishment is enough for us to change. God would not do that kind of thing, I think.

I am sharing my feelings because i dont know about the real truth about this but still m sharing my feelings about this i think hell and heaven are here in our life..if the person is doing good with everyone then person would be rewarded and if the person is not good then god punish them in this life ..'I am feeling like hell' this is very common line what mostly people use in thier problems according to me this is god's punishment...'I am flying in heaven' in happy moments said by people ..so according to me hell and heaven all is here only ..
