Because of a lot of health reasons I'd rather watch.I love to watch Football, which I am doing now as I type this, the Washington Redskins. And I also enjoy watching Baltimore Orioles Baseball.
Since my elbows cannot hold the bowling ball much,I mostly like to watch my kids bowl and sometimes on tv.As far as participating I enjoy ski ball, bad miton, walking, some exercise, croquet, ping pong and horseshoes.Stuff that is not too much wear and tear on the body
Do you like to watch or play? Which sports do you watch and what do you play and why?

hi dfollin.
i guess it depends on the sport. for american football and soccer, i'm contented just watching as i can't play those sports well. for other sports that i actually play, like basketball, bowling, and darts, i very much prefer to play the game rather than watch it.
good that you mentioned football, i'm so psyched about the start of the nfl. my most favorite sport to cap and place bets on. can't say the same about baseball though as mlb has been unkind to me. huhuhuhuhuhu!
looking forward to this nfl season!

hi dfollin!
nice to see a fellow nfl fan here.
perhaps we can start a weekly thread to discuss the games and what not. already looking at the scheduled games for week 1. do you follow any nfl team/player in particular? also do you follow college football as well?
would love to read your thoughts.
cheers!!!

Neither. Watching sports is boring, and I can't see well enough to play them.

I have never been a watcher. I've always been the kind of person who would prefer to spend my time learning a sport rather than watching. The sports I have tried over the years include swimming, diving, cheerleading, and martial arts. I am also self-taught in a couple others (I can do basic acrobatics and VERY basic baton twirling moves with no formal training, for example - I am always seeking new kinds of choreography to add to my dance performances).
The only sport I ever enjoyed watching was Grand Prix racing. I like Formula One, Can Am, Champ Car, and the like. I think I picked it up from my dad who is an avid racing fan and even raced himself when he was in college. I am not much of a Nascar person though (neither is my dad).
Also, there are specific events in sports I will occasionally watch on YouTube just to re-live the moment. Those include the 1983 NCAA Basketball Championships when Jim Valvano and his NC State team won the title against "impossible" odds. The other is the 2010 Superbowl when the New Orleans Saints won. I grew up in North Carolina (and Jim Valvano is one of my heroes) and my family is from New Orleans so I'm sure you can see why those two events would hold special meaning to me.
Other than that, I am not a spectator sports person. I like to try all kinds of sports and fitness routines though, but team sports aren't really my thing (anything involving choreographed movement is my favorite, and also what comes the most naturally to me).

I enjoyed both watching and playing cricket. Cricket is my favorite sport. I rather dont get time to watch cricket live in the field but it is more relaxing watching at home.

I used to love to play sports when I was younger. I am not able to play anymore though. I do still love to watch though.

I love to play sports, and watching is fun too. I'm a huge fan of tennis and play the sport at our school's team. I've been playing for several years, but still have a lot to learn. I have to admit, I'm a pretty competitive person, especially when it comes to sports. I get my head in the game, and then it becomes quite fun. When I lose, I'm pretty miserable, but I know that I learned a lot from my mistakes. I play doubles, so with a partner, and we work well together.
When we're waiting for an open court during practice, we just sit along the side and watch. Some of the girls on our team are absolutely AMAZING at this sport, and their play is almost ... graceful and comforting to watch. Their hits are perfect, and they know exactly at which angle to aim the ball. I can learn a lot from them, and it makes me happy.
Happy mylotting!

Hi dfollin,
To be candid I am not good in many a sort event event. I know cricket, a bit football, Rummy etc.
As I am now 43 neither have time there is no time nor exclusive interest to master over them.
The only alternative is to watch them on TV. World Cup Football, Cricket and hokey.

I like to watch a whole bunch of different sports. I don't think I would be able to play as good as some of the professional players because they are well trained and would probably beat me rather easily. The sports I like to watch are Football, hockey and some basketball. I do like to play basketball and tennis. I would much rather be playing golf than watching it on T.V.

For the extreme sports activities, I'd rather watch than play. If the sport is within my capabilities, I'd rather play it than sit and watch it. I do prefer to play because the interaction in playing is far more thrilling and exciting rather that sitting it out and watching while nibbling some chips in there. But of course, if I don't have much of a talent regarding a sport or I completely do not know how to play the sport, I only got the option to watch it for my entertainment. I think this is quite logical.
