hi friends. call it a game if you want. your invincible team is 3-0 down in a series with only one match remaining to salvage any pride, what you would do as a selector? do what the BCCI did by bringing a player who last played for indian 3 years back and was not very impressive recently like RP Singh? or try something else? look at england, anderson, broad and bresnan all bowl from mid 130's to the 140's look at team india, except for some short burst ,the indian bowlers bowl with a max of 132 kmph why would you want another 128 kmph bowler? why not think out of the box and do what the srilankans did against the indians? they brought dammika prasad into the team mainly for his express pace and he troubled the indians. why didn't think of bringing a young fast bowler like umesh yadav who can bowl in the 140's consistently into the team just for a change in tactic? as for batting, sehwag is half deaf and i hardly see gambhir in the field with dravid thinking "do i have to open again?" why can't you just replace them with someone else? is sehwag and gambhir are the only good openers india was able to produce? dont they have openers in those ranji tournament and the other zonal tournaments? why not let your main players rest completely and get 100% fit so they can be available for the other main matches in the future? do they think that the new young batsmen will have a tough time handling the english pacemen and get out early? well welcome to the club. when even the greats like sachin, laxman, gambhir are struggling, they wont be worryingif the rookie is Struggling or not.but if he scores,he will be a hero. then again, you can't expect anything else from a board run by politicians.

Hey come on!I dont understand why everyone in the world is so eager to criticize Indian cricket team..?India had lost series against South africa in South africa, they never won test series in SA.All I want to say is winning and losing matches or series is part of the game we all know it. So far as your post reply concern if I would be in that position in BCCI I would wait our team to lose by 0/4 so that I could have sufficient and strong reasons to introduce big changes and strategies in the team.. Why everyone is criticizing Indian team because they have been on top in test for more than a year and after that they won the world cup of ODIs.Thats why on losing the series by 0/3 (0/4 possibly)everyone pointing the finger at Indian team with the questions if this Indian team really deserved that great achievements..?I would like to mention specially 'British media'. Honestly the problem what I am seeing with Indian team is IPL and its Timing.BCCI should't always look for glamorizing the IPL matches by keeping Great Indian regular players in IPL matches. BCCI should give the Indian icons players like sachin ,sehwag,Dhoni,Dravid ,Zaheer and more..an option that they are free not to play IPL matches if there is an International series or tournament already scheduled ahead. So that main players can get proper rest without losing the contract money from their IPL team owners.

thanks for the response. i dont think this has anything to do with the british media. the thing is when india got all out for 136 against south africa during their last tour, not many complained because they fought back valiently in the second match. but here its not the 0-3 scoreline that causing the mess. it loks something like this: first test:lost by 196 runs second test: even better.lost by 319 runs. third test:exceptional.lost by an innings and 242 runs add to that the loss in the practise game, you can see why people got extremely upset. if india has fought back and took the english to their limit to lose those matches, there wouldn't be this much criticism. whats more they haven't learnt in the 4th test too.letting the score close to 600? as for IPL,tell the chennai supporters and mumbai suporters that dhoni and sachin wont participate in the next IPL,the ticket sales will drop exponentially. something BCCI wont want to happen. they dont mind india going down the ladder in test and odi as long as IPL goes up the ladder.

@blueguy999 sorry to interrupt you,but i think stardustcdsd is not criticizing our team he/she is just giving good suggestions and asking other members for the options to make the team better,we know that we are the best we won world cup also remain on top in tests so why we loose against england ?we have quality batsman and some young fast bowlers why we are not trying them? Why we are dependent only on old players like sachin, laxman, dravid, zaheer and bhajji when we have new young talents, simply we love our team and we always want our team's win,we are not criticizing them just discussing for how they can make our team better .

@blueguy999 India team has lost 3 match continuously only through 3-0 and that to comprehensively by England when team was supposed NO1 A number one should loosing 3-0 and that with such a big margins even when in toured the Australian team which good batting and bowling in 2004 we were able to draw that This series shows how bad India has been in this series

as a selector i would definately like to give chance to a new young fast bowler like Varun aaron in place of R.P.Singh who is bowling superbly with a pace of 147 kmps in county cricket. and also like to give chance to R.Aswin as englands batsman are not good players of spin but by looking the present condition of indian cricket team i dont think they are able to win this fourth test match and save thier prestige.

one more thing yes you are right Umesh Yadav is also another good bowling option i dont know why they are not giving chances to our young talents, and same for the batsman too,if Sehwag and Gambhir are not totally fit so why they are not giving chance to other new batsman we have many options available as a selector i would like to give chance to Wasim Jaffer and Ashok Menaria as openers, also this is a good right hand left hand combination and both are doing well in county cricket.

Its wrong to blame the selectors for the debacle that India faced. They picked nearly the best available. If some players are not professional enough or feign ignorance about their fitness what can selectors do? After the world cup indian became very complacent and perhaps thought England would be pushovers. The problem with today's players is that they are only suited for one dayers and not test matches which calls for sound technique

Well the mistakes were made at the start of the series they should have had some matches in India to test the fitness of Zaheer has well others they should had more warm up matches they should had another back opener Nothing will change much after your beaten 3-0 RP Singh was chosen due to his performance in 2007 , but they should given the chance to Munaf he was intial team and If they had Yadav sent they would played Munaf instead I can understand why they wanted Shewag has he is a impact player and make the bowlers bowl defensive but they should played as he wasn't fully fit

Well thats the problem they should have had something gauge their fitness or atleast have couple more matches in England this has been lack of preparedness
