Getting A Driver's License

I just got my driver's license yesterday, and I still cannot believe it. I failed the test once before, because I have a problem with turning, and I parked pretty far from the curb. This time, the cones from the parallel parking portion seemed really close together. I'm not sure if they changed it but it was nearly impossible to get any closer to the curb, but I ended up being close enough, somehow. The instructor told me to go between 15 and 20 mph on the course, because it is very compact, but I ended up going at around 8 mph. He kept telling me to speed it up! I did pass it somehow though, and he said I needed a bit more practice, but I got my license!
Around here in the United States, most people get their license as soon as they turn 17, some do it on their birthday. I couldn't imagine having spent my birthday at the DMV all morning, though. I got it almost a year after I turned 17, which I felt was really late, but a lot of people don't get it until they are much older. Even my 22 year old brother has not gotten his yet.
Even though my dad already has put me on the insurance policy and I can legally drive, I don't feel a sense of freedom yet. I don't have my own car, and I don't think I will for a long time because I do not have a part-time job, just making an average of 100 a month online, which is simply not enough to buy a car.

Congrats lilbaby, you may not feel the freedom yet, but hopefully your parents will allow you to practice more until you get your own car..

I think it would be even better to be allowed to practice without my parents, so that I will learn how to use my own judgement instead of taking directions for every move.

Oh no, I meant to practice without your parents. for example if one of them would ask if you could run an errand for them. One less thing they have to do and more practice for you..

Hello lil baby catapillar.
Well I could have taken the exam since I turned 18 but I was not able to because of other personal reasons in my life at the time.
I have taken the exam last year, with the practical test just last tuesday, and I managed to get it in the first try. I just got my driver's id from the police and it looks really good.
Now all I have to do is consider what I could drive because I too don't have a car not to mention gas money.

Yeah, it's good to have a license, though, because a lot of jobs and career training requires one, plus it is good to use as an ID. I hope we are able to get cars of our own soon.

That's really a very good news. Wonderful. Congratulations to you ! Yes, I passed the driving test only at the third trial. I failed two times for making many mistakes, one serious one being driving too fast in the play-ground zone. I learned a lot of lessons while taking the first two tests. And, that helped me pass at the third time.

You park pretty far from the curb and have problem making turn, it happen to many young drivers, don't worry too muich about it, after a few drive around the blocks, you will get the skill necessary to drive, just remember not to drive too fast and always focus on your drive steering and the street not on your car radio, iPod, or mobile phone. I am glad you got your license now in your second try. Very soon you will have your own car instead of your parent car once you make enough money to pay for it.

Most of the time I actually might park too close to a curb, on a normal street. You're right, it really does take practice, and I'm looking forward to being able to practice alone soon, but I think it's going to be a little while before I am trusted to do that.
