I love to watch movies. Last night me and my friend watched 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' and we'd stumble upon a man who's phone ring like an alarm clock in the middle of the movie and I think he had some hard time searching where the heck his phone was and the people around him stared vigilantly. We thought he would turn his phone off or ran outside to answer it, but instead he answered the call inside theater. It was at the climax of the movie so we hear orchestral background music and some effects while we could also hear his voice shouting just for the caller to hear his voice. It wasn't just a 10 seconds call, it was almost a 2 minutes call that most of the people their is shouting to keep quiet. Until an Aussie guy(I think due to his accent), roughly around in his 40s stood up and asked the guy to step out the theater since he already disturb a lot of people. But the guy didn't move his @ss, instead he just mocked the aussie guy using tagalog vulgar words. I was about to stand and grab that sick guy but my friend insisted me not to do it because it is not appropriate and I might get a bad history reputation to that mall. Finally a security personnel walk towards the area where that sicko was seated and the guy immediately ended his call and remained quiet until the film was over.
Guys, just a reminder of having a good behavior and not being rude please put your phone on the silent mode or better yet just turn it off when you are inside a movie house or theater.

I too love to watch movies :D but not in theaters. I recently went to one onnly because my friend wanted to watch a movie with me before we parted.
I keep my phone silent inside theaters as a rule. Never got any call while in there.... but still if I got one I would text the caller about being unavailable for the time being and then talk to them later. They can reply back if it's an emergency... Sounds good to me. ;)
But again, I just noted. Texting may be considered annoying as well. Hmmm

I think it is really unethical not to turn off your phone while inside the theater or even church. That guy should have went outside to take his call. He should be sorry with other viewers because he cause such disturbance. If it is an emergency call, he should at least make sure that his phone is in vibration or silent mode.

That person is like an uneducated person, who doesn't know some good manners and right conduct.
I guess, it is common sense for one to put his phone in silent mode inside a theater. The fact that the sound is loud and the people are watching the movie, it means that no disturbance is allowed in whatever manner.

I agree with you simplyd, by the tone of his voice he has this hard and low local voice tone. I think he was talking to his foreign boss since he tried to speak in English as much as he could but it turns out to become tag-lish, maybe he is seafarer or something, because I heard him saying that the ship will dock somewhere in Africa or something like that. But still, it is very unethical. If it was my boss calling me while inside the cinema, I will go outside and look for a quite place to answer it. It might also be rude to your boss if you are shouting at him over the phone just to overlap the sound inside the cinema.
Thanks for the response.

That's correct. He could have gone outside so he can have a clearer reception of the call and not shout back to his boss on the phone. What a rude way to answer a boss !

Ugh~ I know what you mean. Aside from those people who constantly talk while watching a film and those who keeps kicking your chair during the entire film length, this is just as annoying. Really now, It's common ethics to at least turn your phone in silent mode when inside the theater. The reason why you paid money to watch movie is to enjoy and not get agitated. That person should just learn some manners. Worse, he gave the Aussie guy a bad impression on how Filipinos should act. That guys should just be thrown out of the theater.
Maybe he just got too excited since he's watching "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" and the suddenly thought "Oh, it's me!!!" XD

Haha! you see! That is why I really wanted to stood up at that moment and confront that guy, give him a punch and threw him outside just like a superhero, but it will ruin me my free ticket (since my friend treated me) and it will also cause a scene.
Haha! He answered his phone and told the caller that he was in the film, good one! =)

I must admit, I've been guilty. It's not intentional. I wasn't trying to be rude. I get so few phone calls that I never think to turn off my phone to avoid the ringer going off at times when it may be considered rude or annoying to others. If it does happen to ring I will turn it off. Who gets phone calls anymore anyway? That's what texting is for.

That is very annoying. I also don't like people that check their phones even on silent as they light up and catch your eye in the dark theatres. People need to respect each other. We pay so much to go out to see a movie these days. We want our full moneys worth.

It would be great if everyone cellphone user used the silent mode at the movies. Who wants to be in that intense moment of a movie and hear someone's cellphone ringing. It just ruins the ambience and the mood. a little courtesy would go a long way and be greatly appreciated by so many.

Argh. I abhore selfish people like that. For him to answer his cell phone and speak loudly was not only a disruption, but an invasion of peace and quiet. It is rude people like him that prevents moviegoers from fully enjoying themselves.
In fact last summer my friend and I went to the theatre to see the new Harry Potter movie, the last movie Part 1. There were these people behind us, whooping loudly at every single scene. I was beyond irritated and wanted to lash them out. However, I stayed quiet because I did not want to cause a scene.
Now I understand that people want to talk..but if you're going to do it, at least talk in hushed tones or wait until the movie is over! And if you're going to text, turn the sound off, and make sure no one is sitting behind you. That little LED light is powerful in the dark.
Think first before acting. After all, we all pay heavy money to see a movie inside a theatre these days. Let's not be rude to each other.

That guy doesn't have any manners at all. It really bugs me to see people using their mobile phone in the theater even if its just for texting. The light coming from the mobile phone is really distracting and you can't focus on the movie especially if the guy is in front of you.

it is really irritating, i don't understand, why people keep their cell phones on at places where they know it is not appropriate to do so.
Sometimes i think that may be they are showing other that 'See I have a mobile' but then every one have cell phones these days

It is really absolutely annoying that when you are watching and focusing on the movie then suddenly you heard a beep. That!!! really get on my nerves. Especially when the that person is beside(GRRRRRR). In addition that cellphone light or you bring light on the theater and it is pointed at you. That is also annoying.

There are really rude people in this world. They are a pain to deal with. But it is still advisable not to let your cool off and lose your temper due to them. They are just not worth it. Anyway, I always try to switch off or bring to silent mode my cellphone during movies and concerts. It is a sign of respect and courtesy to others. This should be common sense already. I just hope that other cellphone users would be responsible enough on when to use their cellphones.

It's really irritating when you are in the cinema and some people talk by the phone or their phone is ringing all the time. If I go to cinema I like to relax and focus on the watching the film. I don't want to be angry but some people does not understand this and they think that they are the centre of the world.
