Hi fellow myLotters, I am currently struggling to quit smoking. I really want to quit, but it's so much easier said than done! I have tried to quit many times, and I have said I was quitting many, many times! But, I just can't. I am addicted. I have tried a pill called Chantix, as well as nicotine patches. Both were prescribed by my doctor who says I really need to quit because of my asthma. The pills started making me sick to my stomach, and that's why he put me on the patches. However, the patches will not stay on! I am supposed to wear one for 24 hours, and I will be lucky to get one to stay on for 2 hours! I would like to discuss ways to stop smoking. If you, a friend, or a family member has struggled to quit in the past, but finally quit... how did you/they do it? I just don't know what else to do. It's really hard. Maybe you guys can give me tips on how to quit, and stay quit!

I'm not trying to quit at the moment, but when I've tried to quit in the past I gone cold turkey. Needless to say, that hasn't worked for me. I turned into a royal b**ch, and ended up running to the store for cigs. When I DO try to quit again, I think I'll try the nicotine gum. I am afraid to try Chantix because of all the side-effect I've heard about. Good luck on quitting!

I wouldn't mind trying the gum, however, it would have to be prescribed by my doctor or else I cannot pay for it. I have medicaid (insurance), and I do not have to pay for meds the doctor gives me. I didn't have to pay for my Chantix, or patches when the doctor prescribed them. Hopefully, I can talk to my doctor about the nicotine gum.

My dad was used to a heavy smoker. Finally he quit it. Of course it is not easy to quit smoking. At that time when he felt like smoking, he would go to do the housework, such as mopping the floor. The tiring housework might make him have less interest to smoke. He kept on it for a few weeks. And finally he got rid of smoking. This is his method and I hope it will be helpful for you. I love China

Hello, It is good things that you decide to quit Smoking. Smoking habbit is more concern to our mentality than physical requirement. You already passed first stage by decide to quit it. Next thing is, I think requirement of smoke is at specific time zone(Morning,Afernoon,Evening,Night). At the time zone of Smoking you should try to concentrate your mind on specific work or specific Person. If time zone is passed without smoking. You can drink little water. If you are not able to passed you smoke only half size, this habbit reduced degrre of requirement. Do this things i wish, you can quit smoking.

My uncle was a smoker and he quit by his own will. He simply forced himself to not smoke and I think that this is the best way. It simply depends on you...if you're poetic you can convince yourself that this is a test of will and that your own health is the prize. I hope I helped you.
