Social networking sites are very open and friendly, but there are and have to be certain etiquette that need to be followed.People can be real jerk as they can post anything in their wall for the whole world to see, tarnish people's images in just seconds.Just some week ago i was watching a episode of csi, it was a old episode. a pregnant teenager is found hanging by the belt in her clothes shelves , they were able to save the baby but the poor girl was dead and upon searching they found nobody killed her , she committed suicide as her enemy girls at school tarnished her image online and distributed her number online. The stress of being unmarried mother and so much hate mails and sms lead her to kill herself.
Tarnishing someone image is so easy online and people nowadays takes out their hate out on social sites.Posting wrong things online creates a negative effect on one's professional life as well so ain't there should be some basic etiquette people should follow online

akangirl: yes it is very important we should adopt proper etiquettee in social forums. But people who want to tarnish others they purposely do not follow proper way. Sometimes without the knowledge of the person also wrong may be done.
Everybody should be careful and more especially young girls and women should be very careful while dealing with unknown people online.

I agree with you completely on this and would like to add my own bit of cation about the kind of information that one should share about oneself on social media. Please bear in mind that the person online may portray a nice personality, but in actual fact may be after something else.
Share as little information as possible, don't show that family members are friends and never create an online family tree that is accessible to outsiders. It is information such as this, date and or place of births, relationships, anniversaries, etc that most bank use for online transaction verification, if this information is open to the public, then that person is quite likely to become a victim of crime or fraud. Under no circumstances allow someone who you know is not a real friend to post on your wall, there are privacy settings.
One of the most important rules - never let anything posted that shows you in bad light perturb you. Today, in most countries, there are laws that be used to bring the culprits who show you or your loved ones in bad light on the internet to book, to get them arrested and even jailed.

Even if there is one, haters are bound to thrive and destroy others. I think there should be a law that can punish those people!

I agree with you. With all the new social media, things like cyberbullying are becoming a really big issue. The problem is, people that do that online are most likely people that have a bad personality in real life. It is impossible to censor everything that is done online simply because of the speed of everything. If one person uploads a mean photo, but takes it down in a few minutes, it is possible that it has already spread to many people, and will just keep spreading around.
Social media and people in general are really frustrating sometimes :(
Many people want to do something about it, but it really is difficult to just because of the size of the internet and the places that it can reach. I think we just have to be careful about how much information and what exactly we put on the internet.
The easiest, yet hardest thing to do, is to stay away.

Agreed, we should always think twice before saying something. You don't know exactly how the other person will receive what you say or even if the person is passing through a bad moment.
