When do you usually pray to God ? Is it only or especially fall in trouble or when you achieve something in life ? There are people who are just merry going and bother less about God or religion . But when they are in serious trouble they will become very religious and keep on praying to God to help them . Some pray and thank God when they get good results at exams , get a job or get married and so on . Some are just dedicated and pray regularly and thank God whether they are happy or sad . Which category do you belong ?

Without GOD I am nothing and we are nothing. I grow up with no hugs and kisses from my real parents and guess what I'm still fine, I'm still okay, I'm still great! Though when I was young I always long for it and every time I saw guys/families out there kissing and hugging each other I got envy and sometimes tears falling unto my eyes without my knowledge. During those times I have a vast dreams and in order for me to fulfill all those dreams I need to study hard. So I just study, study and study even if my mom scolded me most of the times for household chores not being done but I never mind her. As I grow I realize that is GOD so good. I really hit high! Thanks GOD. But things started to fail when I got married and I really don't know why. :=(
P.S. Your avatar is so nice but I can't just figure out what is it. Can you tell me what it really is? thanks.

Hi Rollylolly.Prayer means differnt things to different people. For me prayer is gratitude. So I pray almost everytime.I carry a diary with me and write down things i am grateful for.Its not because I am a saintly person, its because I know that gratitude causes grace to flow in life. The more I pray ( I mean remain grateful) today, the more i will have reasons to be grateful tomorrow.

Hello there! I always pray to God and offer thanks in almost all my thoughts. I thank HIM every morning as I wake up, before I eat, I ask HIM guidance in every decision trhat I make be it small or big ones. Before I sleep I pray to HIM. It is not like a memorized prayer but it is like a conversation with HIM

Well, i pray every day!!!!
I sometimes pray in the morning upon waking up. I pray before eating and after eating to say thank you for the blessing of food in our table.
I pray before i sleep to say thank you and say sorry for the things that i have committed in thoughts, in words and in action.

Maybe because i grew up with my grandparents... My grandmother trained us to pray always and go to church to say praise the LORD GOD... She also told us that if we have struggles and happy moments, we can also talk to GOD - HIS always there to listen to us.

This is going to sound odd...but I don't pray. I talk to God instead. I talk to Him as if I'm talking to a beloved parent, someone far wiser than I. Whenever I have a problem I know I can go to Him. Whenever I am happy about something, same thing. I can tell Him.
God wants us to talk to Him. And in my opinion the number of times doesn't matter. He's more concerned that you talk (or pray depending on your view) to Him at all then some random number. But this is what I've learned from my own experiences. I don't wish to tell anyone to increase or decrease the number of times they pray.
For me, I sometimes talk to Him a few times a day, or sometimes I'll talk so much it gets repetitive. There is something else I've learned. We can talk to God, but we also need to learn to be quiet now and then to give Him a chance to talk.
I will say this. I used to pray. I'd pray faithfully just like I was taught. It never got me any closer to Him. Not personally any way. Because of my faith in Jesus, which I'd like to have grown more, I can approach God with faith, and say "Hi, what are you doing?" Being able to talk to God the way I want, the way I need gives me the freedom to feel and deepen that personal relationship.

I feel so happy to read your post . I loved to read the line "Hi,what are you doing"....you are right we need to come closer to Him and talk and discuss with Him just the way we talk to our dearest friend or parents . We can only hope to be heard when our relationship with Him is strong enough to talk and share our thoughts with Him . Your way of building a bond and accepting Him as a friend and guide is amazing and proves your devoted faith . Jesus is also my saviour and I often talk to Him and thank Him whether I am sad our happy . It's now so natural and I feel He is always with me or rather He is in me making me do His job .It is not the number of times we pray but the quality time I spend with my father .
God bless you !

I have my first prayer right after i get up, 2nd is after bath etc, in my puja room i pray lighting ghee lamp and insense sticks, third is same in evening after bath.
And the last at bed time, prayer is very powerful if done from heart
Best of luck.

Prayer is very powerful if it is heartfelt . Some pujas like Ganesh puja in Maharashtra and Durga puja in Bengal in India are too extravagant . But I believe simple dedicated prayers at the small prayer rooms in our house can be more intense and faithful . Good to hear your experience . The burning ghee lamps and the incense sticks make the atmosphere so idyllic.

I pray to God if there are blessing in our family. I also prayed to God everyday to ask for guidance and good health. As much as possible, I want to talk to Him even if it is just a minute or two. Every time I walk to work or on my way home, I pray to Him.

Our God is merciful and I am sure He will fulfill all your hopes and aspirations .It does not matter how often and how much time you take to pray but it is your commitment and faith which matters when you pray . God bless you !

I belong to the last category. I cannot start a day, without saying my prayer.
Whenever, i haven't prayed at all and just woke up and prepared for work, my day is a mess. My prayer seems to be my guide and strength as i go on my day.

I pray to God every night just right before I sleep. I thank Him for the beautiful day, the good and the bad days, thank Him for the blessings and the coming blessings that He showers to my family. I would ask Him for a peaceful sleep. When there are very good things that comes my way I get to thank Him for everything at some moments throughout the day for His reminding me how happy I am to have such blessings. I constantly thank Him for giving me a wonderful daughter. She always reminds me how good God is for giving me my daughter who is worth living for on this earth

I pray every night, it has become a habit now and before bed, I would end the day by praying to God. A way of saying thanks for the day I just had and then asking him for another fantastic day the next. I've been doing this since as a child. Having God in your daily life is a good thing, sharing your thoughts with him everyday truly shows your connection with him compared to people who pray to him in times of desperation or need.

Thank you for your response Triple0 . You are right in saying that we should be praying and thanking God everyday . It is a selfish act to seek Him in times of hopelessness and need . God bless you !

I do only when I am in trouble, you bet! I don't believe in the gods described in books or the ones carved in stones, my concept of god is part empirical and part logical. And based on these precepts, the god that I envision doesn't bind me to pray 'x' times a day; it's not as if I am making deposits to my account in the divinity's bank of karma each time I pray and drawing from it when I fail to express my gratitude in time. I have no complaints of people praying to god day after day; it is indeed a worthwhile experience if you can lay down all your worries, not to mention the happy moments that alternate with them, to the mercy of god and lose yourself in thankfulness for his gifts for some time every day. All I take exception to is when people start offering prayers as a way of preempting their share of God's munificence - you know, a sort of insurance bond whose returns you can enjoy alive. When people fall into this habit, they fail to fathom their own capacities and become dependent on God to such an irrational degree that they begin to beseech God for the problems they have the potential to solve themselves. All this at a time when they have not even fractionally understood the actual nature of God. Therefore, I have put God at the back of my mind, invoking him only when I have my backs to the wall, when my resources run dry and I have nowhere else to turn.

Great to know your ways of analyzing God and offering prayers . You stand quite unique among others in your rational understanding of God . It's true some people's reliance on God is based on passive statusquo rather than putting or trying their abilities . It is said 'God helps those who help themselves' . It is also understandable that praying to God does depend on the number of times but the dedication , involvement , trust and willingness to surrender to the almighty for our fulfilment and satisfaction .
May you be blessed by God !

Everyday! The moment I wake up, I offer my thanks and before I sleep, I say my thanks again and ask for His guidance. For what He has done, the best I can do now is to follow His commandments and offer thanks for the blessings He is continuing showering for me. I do pray extra hard though when I am in deep trouble and He is always there to give me a helping hand.

You pray for God whenever you get the notion to. Well, as for myself I prayed to God today; I prayed for what direction to take in my life in so many words. I meant like to stay in the city I'm at or to try to move elsewhere since I'm very unhappy where I been living at the past 9 months. I felt a good feeling very briefly, I think, after I prayed. But I still don't know what I should do. I think to pray is a good thing. I think to believe in God is a good thing.

I pray to God everyday. Every morning and night after my devotion, before eating meal and any time.. It's one way of communicating my God and Saviour. He answered my prayer request through the Bible. I get more closer to Him especially if I have problem. He is my one best friend forever. He is the best. he laid His life for me.
