Left over. I hardly ever have anything left over. My family eats in a weird way.
I remember once I was draining rice into the sink and my uncle said "you're throwing away the strenght of the rice." He grabbed a cup and held it under the rice and drank the water. Now I cook rice so that there isn't any water remaining
And I try to cook just enough so that I don't have to store anything in the freezer. Where I come from many people don't even like eating frozen meat, they say it tastes stale.

Hello arleram. Well I don't cook a lot with fruit as it is canned with a lot of sugar. I do save broth from vegetables and meats for future soups and gravies. I take bone from meals and add a small bit of water and simmer it with some seasoning of herbs and spices with some carrots and celery. I let it cool then put in the freezer for future use.

my wife puts all this broths in a ziplock and put it in the freezer. she uses it, well if she needs it. i dont know how to cook but sometimes i do give her a hand at the kitchen and she lets me put those broths in a ziplock and freeze. though i have to say she does not use much of vegetables from can. i see her use mushroom and corn only from a can. she only buy fruits from can when she really need to do something fast. but on a day to day basis she buys it all fresh at the market.

I yuse everything. Brths of any kind are used either in soups (you can mix veggie broths with chicken broth and bring a mug of it to the computer instead of coffee), or you can use it later for stews, risottos, all sorts of rice instead of plain water.
When I boil fruit I do it with sugar and serve it together as a compote so there are no leftovers.
