How Often Do You Read The Bible?

Me and my boyfriend set a goal that we should at least read the bible once day. We can then study one chapter a day and share experiences about our lives that we can relate to that verse. However there are instances that we failed to read the bible in a day. So we usually make it up by adding chapters that we will study. This goal just happened about 2 weeks ago. I'm quite glad that we are both interested in knowing the word of God. We are not active in church and we don't care that much about bible studying before. However we are now taking one step at a time. Our next goal is probably to attend church every Sunday and attend fellowship. I know it is not on how many times you read it but by actually understanding the message and applying it to our lives. I'm just happy to share this experience to my fellow My Lotter. I just want to ask now, how often do you read the bible?

Hi chiwasaki. I'm glad you've renewed your faith. The bible does wonders to one's EQ. A couple of years ago I prayed to God that if I would pass my board exam I would read the bible until I finished it. After a week of waiting for the licensure's results, it finally got out on the web and I did pass so I followed my promise and read it from Genesis to Revelation. It drastically changed my personality that my ex was so overwhelmed with the change and he got exasperated and told me that my goodness was suffocating him. I no longer go to church because I don't like religion yet I still have faith. Have a good day.

Honestly I seldom go to church recently. I had a job that has work during Saturdays and Sundays. I also have faith in Him but I want to be closer to Him more. I know I've been a good child but I want to serve God more.

I love reading the best book ever: Bible. Everyday, I do read at least a chapter but trying my best to read at least three chapters this week. I used it in my devotional hour and that is being done every morning. i have to read it first before taking my breakfast. No reading the bible no breakfast. That is my system so that I will not miss reading the Love letter of my Lord. Reading it with meditation is always helping me get through anything everyday with victory. I always have in mind that in order to know the Will of God everyday, I have to count on the Word of God. For now, I have been working on at the new testament then I do resolve to read as an additional to my series reading the book of Proverbs which is called the book of wisdom and the book of Psalms called as book of praise. It is great to have a bible reading everyday for it makes life easier and better. Going to church every sabbath day is also a good way to grow in our spiritual life. For me, it is my weekly celebration that after a whole week of earthly tasks, I am still fine on the weekend and ready for another week of journey. Being active in the service for God can really give a very amazingly different way of living. I myself have found the real meaning and purpose of my life. Doing all these things with Jesus as the focus and center, you will love life more and you will live joyfully and peacefully.

There are times that I just read and meditate one particular verse. It comes handy specially if you memorize the verse. I agree with you, reading the bible gives me sense of direction to my everyday life. It serves as my guidance to my decisions.

Hi chiwasaki! That's a really great goal you got there with your boyfriend. I always find it sweet when a boyfriend do something really nice with their girlfriend especially when it concerns God and other humane activities. You should continue that. Good luck! I'm ashamed to admit it but I don't read the bible. We are not a religious family although when I was young my mother used to take us to church every Sunday. But then I grew up and learned to do things on my own. I rarely go to church anymore.

Hi secretbear! My mother is a Roman Catholic while my dad is an Iglesia ni Cristo. I grew up in a Christian school. There are times that I will go to INC church but most of the time I will go to Catholic church. I decided when I was in high school to attend this baptist church in our area, my mom and dad are okay with it. Honestly I'm also not that religious. I don't often go to church as well. But as much as possible, we want to get closer to God step by step. Have a nice day!

That is true, it is not on how many times you read it. It is by learning the word of God and applying it in our lives. Being a Christian is not only accepting Christ but by living our lives through Him as well. Have a nice day.

I read it everyday. Rarely miss. Every now and then I get the hankering to investigate a book, so I keep a notebook handy. Did that with Isaiah, and Ezra-Neh in the past few years.

Well i say read the bible everyday before you go to work so that you put your eyes on him. and read the bible on your lunch brake if you can, to get your mind back of god for life can be hard to handle and worries can creep up on you. then read the bible before you go to bed so that you give your hole day to him again. i found that when i did this that i sleep better and that my day and night is much better then when i didnt keep my eyes my thoughts on the lord Jesus. just like god says (TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART LEAN NOT ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTAND IN ALL YOUR WAYS SUMBIT TO HIM AND HE WILL MAKE YOUR PATHS STRAIGHT) Proverbs3:5-6. See just keep your mind on him and you will trust him. hope this helps. and good job on reading that bible everyday keep it up. God bless

Congratulations.. Keep up the good habit of reading the Bible every day. The latest year I have listened to the Bible and it has given me so much encouragement and helps me to think more positive thoughts. I have downloaded the reading from jw.org and the readers are really good. I often visit biblegateway and compare different translations. But the New World Translation is the most accurate I have found. It is in written form on watchtower.org Happy reading to you both..

Good to hear that you are reading it every day. Bible really gives me encouragement specially at times of trouble. It also gives me sense of direction when I feel lost. I love New International Version and King James Version of the bible.

Not as much as I should, especially when it comes to actually looking up a scripture to meditate on. But I do read parts every day thanks to subscribing to a couple sites and FB..I have some friends who post verses all the time, so it isn't like I am not able to read as I also browse through my sites.. It's great that your boyfriend and you have decided to take this path, I pray that you both find the journey together and can support one another..:)

Thank you for your prayer. I also used some online sites to read scriptures. It is very convenient that the bible verse is already there. You can actually study it and share it to other people.

I want to know the word of God, but not reading of it because its full of mystery and don't know the sequel of every event. Instead, I hear the voice on it through the authorized preacher sent by God.

The bible is full of mysteries indeed. There are chapters that we really can't understand the meaning of it. That is why we also want to attend church. We want to fully understand it and I know a Pastor will be able to help us with that.

I'm reading the Bible at least once a week. But few years ago I read it almost every day. I like the stories of Old Testament. But now I'm reading more often the Gospels. The Bible is a wonderful book and has valuable lessons.

I like the Old Testament before. I like the stories, it is really inspiring and as if I'm reading a history book as well. But early this year, I tried reading the New Testament. I found those Gospels book really inspiring. I read one part about Jesus when he was about to crucified, I find myself crying afterwards.
