how to connect a pc and laptop through LAN or USB?

Now i have this thing going in my mind, I have an internet connection through LAN, and i have an 8 p0rt 10mbps ethernet hub, Now all i want is to connect my pc and laptop through that hub to share files and both the machines to be connected to the internet. Briefly, 1 both pc and laptop should be inter connected through ethernet hub just to share files 2 Both pc and laptop should be able to access the internet at the same time.
