Ten for Ten

I like it when I go the grocery store and see that they have items that are 10 for $10.00 but the thing is that I hardly ever do that get ten for ten because I was thinking is it really a good deal or not? Say you bought 50 ten for ten items that is $50.00 and you are going to need other things like for your household the basic things like soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and things like that that are not included in the deal. So do you think the 10 for $10.00 is a good deal?

It depends if it's the 10 for $10 that you don't have to buy all 10 items to get them for the $1 price. One of the chains here has started this mix and match thing along the same lines like 5 for $10 , 5 for $20 (processed meats), and 5 for $5. The sad thing sometimes you can get the 5 for $10 w/o buying the 5 other times you have to buy 5 to get the reduced price and I don't think it's always very fair.

I don't think that is fair either. But what can we do? I think it might be cheaper just to go to Aldis?

Alot of times it is cheaper to just go to Aldi's depending on what it is as long as you know your prices. Like they finally had ground turkey rolls for $1 @ Pick'n Save, otherwise Aldi is the cheapest at $1.49 if Pick'n Save doesn't have it on sale. Sometimes it's even cheaper to go to the dollar store, again depends on prices... container size... brand preference.

Its a good sale if you know the regular price. I often do 10 for $10 if they are things that I will use alot or know I will use in a few weeks. If they are regularly priced higher than a dollar and you know you will use the item, its a good deal. But watch the regular price...if they are regularly 88 cents each, a sale of 10 for $10 is not a good sale...you are paying more than regular price! Dry goods that are on sale like that are a good investment...paper towels and such. Theydon't go bad. However...some canned goods do. I just tossed a couple cans of stuff I bought on a sale like that...thinking I'd have the kids over or the grand kids...and then didn't and the expiration date expired so I lost money. So just watch what you are buying...compare price to regular price and make sure you will use them. I know people usually stock up for "a rainy day" and out here we stock for earthquake preparedness but you also have to watch that and rotate stock. Just cause it is in a can, doesn't mean it is "good" forever.

That is so true about the expiration dates!! I need to watch more closely like you said because I did experience that one time and it was expired and had to take it back and get a refund and that is a pain to do!!

Well i think it's a good deal because usually where i live you can buy as many as you want and it will only be a dollar each and you don't have to buy the same thing you can mix up the ten for ten items so i would say it is a good deal in my opinion.

I like it when you can mix them up it seems like a much better deal because I know sometimes like when thye had a buy one get 2 free meats here you had to buy the same meats but I asked the cashier and she told me to go ask the meat guy and he said we really aren't supposed to and he asked me what I wanted I said beef and chicken and I think he felt bad so he sid tell her I said it was okay!

Hi jahernandezrivas,
I dont know what you brought 10 for 10$. It depends on what you are getting for ten dollars because if you are in India and you get 10 soaps for 10$ i would say it is pretty bad deal because we can get very good top brand soaps for 40 to 50 cents each. Also i think if you are getting a real good deal then you should buy and buy in good quantity so there is real benefit, it might hurt you first month if you are really poor, but it would pay off much more in next few months.

Recently, I've notice some of the 10 for $10 deals now are forcing you to buy 10 to get the discount. Just another way to catch customers off guard at the cash register. More than likely people don't even notice that part of the sign. Keep a look out for these scams. Best Wishes!

It sounds like a good deal but sometimes it depends on the stuff you need for the house like the one you mentioned.I would grab the deal if it includes the basic household items however I would hesitate if it does not include it.Lets just say $10 for 10 screwdrivers or $10 for 10 slippers, it would just be a waste of money, what am I going to do with the extra stuff.lol

When i am grocery shopping, i tend to gravitate to the ten for ten deals myself. I think you can get a lot of good bargains that way. If you are a smart shopper you can really save some money on them.

Hi ja hernandez rivas: I agree with you, that's a very important point. It's nmot all about the prices but you also have to think if you really need the things you are about to buy and if it's that's exactly what you need. If you buy more items than you really need you are actually losing part of the money you invest.

There are times that the ten for ten seems like a great deal, but then buying so many of them leaves us short on cash for other things. If we can use all of the multiple items then in the long wrong we can save money. Sad part is that we are strapped usually right when the deals come out, so not easy to stock up at times.
I have at times bought the ten for then and or will shop elsewhere where the item might be a bit cheaper too. lol I am always looking for cheaper.

Well, it depends on your need for the item. But when it's not needed, why would you buy it.
Sometimes, promos such as this could really be enticing. Even if you don't need them yet and it's not in your budget you would buy them.

jaher== yes. 10 for 10 is good provided we buy things and make use of them or dispose of the balance items to others for cost. Otherwise for people like us slogging for a long time on this-- it may not be fully useful

I only did the 10 for ten twice, I usually go to other stores to get other items like the dollar store.
