Attention romance writers

All you folks who write romance, I just saw a post on Wordophilia announcing a contest by Avon books (so it's reliable - I checked their page, too, and it's real). 20-25k words, romance genre, prize is $500 and publication. It's a pretty low prize for 20k words (totals about $800) but it includes getting published by a MAJOR house, which has got to be worth a lot, reputation-wise.
Original post on Wordophilia (who posts stuff like this when she sees it) is here: http://www.wordophilia.com/four-markets-for-your-writing/
Compo details are here: http://www.avonromance.com/family-affair-contest/
This is not a referral. And I don't write chick-lit, either.
I reckon that'd be a nice little "foot in the door" option for a new writer, don't you?

Hi CT, there is no way I can make it that shorter, it will loss its meaning if I did...I have the same problem my daughter has, and that is we can't write short stories...lol Actually, I guess I could if I work hard at it, but I am not changing Reality Check, it has too much in there that needs to stay..

You could just publish every fourth word. It'd be a "new art form".

Since I'm neither a US resident nor a romance writer... it's not for me.
