Do you ever question yourself or second guess what you have done?

I think sometimes I do things so automatic that I later question myself as to what I really did! I closed the camper this weekend. There is a long list of things you must do to shut down. Including draining the tanks...turning off the water..etc. But after I got home I think I forgot to unplug the tv set! My son would be upset if he knew I hadn't done it....but I am not for sure that I did! LOL...Have you done things so automatically that after a while you wonder if you did do everything on the list? Maybe it's my age!

No no, it's not with the age..it's just being human! Human beings are, by and large, victims of habits - the habits they have formed over a lifetime of repetitive action. Think about the meals you cook, or the clothes you wear, or even the vehicles you drive for that matter..there's a great deal of unconscious movement involved in it as a result of the number of times you have performed those actions. In the midst of these many mindlessly performed tasks, we might also have to undertake some other which require full awareness and application of mind. And this difficulty in having to transit from a warm, cozy and familiar nest into a whole new rocky terrain teasing you with its unaccommodative spirit, is what gets the better of most of us. That's why all the sages and the seers and the ancient wisdom accumulated over the ages in different parts of the world, they all sing in unison: Live in the present!

Oh That second guessing !I do it all the time!Even when I would automatically do something and I Still second guess myself. The worse was wondering if I put my bow in my violin case!It is was there . I just didn't remember doing it.

Yep, when I have alot to do. Many times i question if I actually did everything. I tend to make a list and cross things off when I am done with them. It helps to see when I get things accomplished.

- I agree with you. I am a busy mom and I always forget something. Until I decided to make a list everyday, cross out if it's done and review it if I miss something. Making a list of things to do is very helpful . It also makes your day organize.

If your son finds out you did not unplug the television set, then it would mean he would unplug it. If he doesn't find out, then good luck to the tv set for unplugging itself.
Yes, of course. I usually do this when I go for long travels of I'm going far away. I would mentally check if I had properly locked my room, closed the windows, locked my cabinets, unplugged the computer, etcetera. Even if it's a routine, I sometimes forget to do one particularly locking my cabinet. ^^ Maybe because I take it for a granted since my room is already locked so no need to lock whatever's inside.

It might be age, I am finding that I wonder things like, "did I finish off the coffee and left the coffee maker on?" My coffee maker turns off after a while, but if the pot is empty long before it turns off, I am sure that isn't good, besides it wastes electricity...
How hard would it be to double check that the TV is unplugged? Is the camper not on your property?

Personally I think these type of things happen to the Best of us. For me there is always questions like "Did I take my Medications, Did I shut off all the lights, did I make all the appropriate phone calls I needed to make, etc. I think as we do get older even if we write things down if they are something of importance we will go around wondering, but in the end everything usually is OK.

I do this more today, so it maybe age. Its easy to say what if I did it different, but we can't reverse the clock. Sometimes it just makes us wiser.

I do this all of the time anymore. I seem to make the wrong choices no matter how much I try to make the right ones.

You're not alone and it's not your age. I am generally a closer at work. I have to do all the night time cleaning, and close the store. As I start to fall asleep each night I ask myself if I'm sure I locked the door, turned off the oven, turned off the radio, etc etc. I mentioned it to hubby once, and he says he does the same thing, only he does it while driving home from work. Did he lock up the store, set the alarm, etc.

I do this a lot these days. I think that it happens to me when I am stressed. I cannot remember diddly squat when I am stressed. Can you go back to check as it is important in case of fire so try to get it checked. I can no longer manage without a diary and if I forget to look in the diary then my day has gone down the chute as I am sure to have missed something important

Oh yes. I just get to bed and wonder if the door is locked. It is such a habit, I sometimes I forget that I done it.
You are not alone.

Yup! Turn off coffee pot. Unplug toaster. You name it. We made two lists. One for going home and one for closing for the season.

I try not to do this to myself a lot, but i have done it in the past. i usually will do this when i am not sure i have made the right decision or choice. Second guessing yourself can do a lot to your confidence and state of mind if you think about it too much.
