This really amuse me when I first notice that my dog was sitting around and staring right on the television like one of us while all of us were watching the television in the evening. She could be sitting still and staring for quite some time... Certain times when she knew we were talking about her, she would be shy and pretend to catch one of her toys and play with it instead.
Is it common that dogs watch television? Does your pet do that or what do they do which amuse you? As I believe every pet has their own character and personality, things they like to do could be sometimes different.

Thank you. In fact I had downloaded a picture of her watching television but it didn't appear here, wonder why. Probablt I did not do it correctly.
Dogs are indeed cute and adorable, they are men's best friend sometimes. They could make you smile when you are down, accompany you when you feel alone... and many more.
Congratulations for you in getting a good friend this coming weekend.

Dogs are definitely man's best friend. I remember watching this science show and they had a question on why we love dogs so much. It was discovered that dogs have eyebrows just like us! Because of their eyebrows, we can easily tell what they're feeling and it's so cute when they move their eyebrows.

That is amazing! It is somewhat like my dog. My dog know how to turn an electric fan on. During noon time and our fan is turned off, she tend to turn it on and she'll sit or lay in front of it as if she's trying to relax and chill.

How funny, I catch mine watching tv a lot as well. At least I think they are watching tv. When they hear a cat or another dog on tv, then they really perk up. You should record it and post it online, might make some money out of it. Never know someone out there might want to use her in a commercial.

Before I rearranged the furniture here in My Living room, there was an armchair near the TV in the corner..I'd taken a photo of my cat back then locked in on a wildlife programme on TV,while he was up on the arm of that chair watching the birds on the screen!

Ive caught Miss Kitty Kat watching tv a few times. The overgrown kitten (4yrs old) used to get right up in the computer screen. Missy Sissy kat became bored of it when she was much younger. But Bubba Kat still gets up in front of the screen. How large their heads become when im trying to read my emails. Miss Kitty Kat has actually sent chat messages while i stepped away for a second.

It is not that UNUSUAL for animals to watch TV! I once had a cat who would watch and at certain times paw on the screen to 'feel' the action going on there.
My son's Great Dane will watch the screen for a while then go around to the side and look behind to see if she can see the rest of the dog showing on the screen. She has the most puzzled look on her face when she can't find the "real thing"!

How intelligent! My dog isn't too bright, but always manages to make us adore her. She's a pomeranian, so is SUPER fluffy. But her one important characteristic is that she LOVES to eat. She's way overweight, around 17 pounds, when she should be around 5!
We tried to see if she would watch TV sometimes, but she just pants and looks away or sleeps. What makes us laugh every time is that when we throw something away and walk away, she would secretly open the door to the trashcan and jump up to grab what we threw away. And she would always do this after we forgot about it. She would the DASH for her cage and hide inside, eating whatever she found. After my grandma went home, she missed her a lot (the two were close) and she didn't know what happened to her. Every day in the morning, she would quietly go downstairs (my grandma slept there) and look around to see if she was there. It broke my heart :(
Happy mylotting everyone!

What a cute and adorable doggy! Yea, I think sometimes they really should watch the TV with us too and I, in particular, like to treat them as humans and yea, it's nice that they are watching the TV too.

Yes it is common to see a pet like dog or cat to watch something that caught their attention.
For example , a friend of mine have a cat and when the PC is broken or have problems he calls me. When I'm working on the problem her cat stand next to me every time and watch what i am doing.
This way pets expand their knowledge.
Cheers

Awww. My dog never watches tv. Whenever we tell her that it's time for her to take a bath or when she sees us holding her towel, she would hide under the bed and would never come out. She doesn't like taking a bath. She also knows how to play hide and seek.

One of my dogs loves telly, she likes animal programs and will attack the screen, she also likes snooker and motorcycle racing. Strangely she recognises cartoon animals as well!

hehehe.. Thats really cute. We used to have a maltese dog before and he loves to play with us. But when we started lying on the couch to watch tv, he would go up there too and lie down with us. He looks at the screen as if he knows what theyre doin. He barks whenever people on tv laughs or if he hears gunfire. Hehehe really cute.

I don't think it's common. I don't think all dogs can notice the Television.. I have had 7 dogs.. and only my first dog (who was special) would watch TV. He noticed things like wolves and stuff and would watch other dogs on tv. I thought it was normal then. Until my other dogs since then, have never been able to focus on the Television. NOW I realize he was special.
I remember one time I was watching the X-files on TV and my dog came and sat next to me and watched the tv for 10-15 minutes. I think he really liked that show.. LOL

That is so cute, it's amazing that your dog watches with you or with your family. I must say that your dog is intelligent and lovely. I have two dogs and they have great personality, they usually sleep like bestfriends. The head of the other dog leans with the other one. I do agree that every dog has its own personality and they are willing to learn from us as their pack leaders.
