I've read this post in one site and thought of sharing with you guys. I think this could be the reason why others are saying that laughter is the best medicine. Here it is: The endorphins your brain produces when you are happy improve your blood circulation and may even serve as painkillers. Laughter also helps reduce the levels of the stress hormones (cortisol and adrenaline). Fifteen minutes of laughing can help you burn up to 40 calories, the same amount burned when lifting weights for 10 minutes. That can result to up to a five-pound weight loss a year, says a study conducted by the Vanderbilt University in Tennessee.

Hi brew!
I've read that somewhere a long time ago and I also believed in it. We really do lose a lot of calories when we laugh a lot, it's a really good exercise for the body and for the heart, also I think. Laughing can also make us look younger than our actual age.
So let's keep on being happy and laugh a lot!

Laughter therapy or laughter clubs are coming up to cope up the heart related problems in today's youngsters. Even the Senior Citizen groups has a 15 minute laughing session everyday during their morning walk session. keep smiling and laughing for a healthy living..also don't forget to cry a while.

Thanks for sharing! So it does make sense to laugh as much as you can if only for the benefit you posted. I am a person who laughs a lot on funny things. I don't control my emotion, I laugh out as loud as can because I know it is good for the heart. Even the Bible in Provers 17:22 confirms the benefit of having a cheerful heart as it states "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones". so let us be happy, laugh as much as we can. Don't be like other people who seems to consider laughing as a big sin.

Great information you got in there brew, you're definitely right and I couldn't agree more. Laughter makes us feel so light inside and out, that's why I really love to laugh.

If you look back in your life and in situations you had to give your view, you gave the best views when your where happy. Laughter comes when you are in good moods or happy. The answers you gave under stress or duress where not the best and may be you regret them.Laugh more and more.

Yes, I also know some people who say lots of bad things when they are angry and it is actually embarrassing to those people who hears them. They tend to regret what they have said after their temper cooled off. Someone also mentioned that people tend to make the best decision when we are happy.

It is really nice to know that there is a scientific basis on this. And "Laughter is the best Medicine" is not just some quote. Well, that is really actually true. I have seen and known this from a movie what goodness a simple laugh we could have. I think the title of that movie is "Patch Adams".

Oh yes, Patch Adams, the famous medical doctor who became famous for his unconventional approach to medicine. The comedy drama film starring Robin Williams. I haven't actually seen the film yet though it was really popular when it was released back then.
