Which comes first, the smile or the happy feeling?

We don't smile because we're happy - We're happy because we smile! I heard this statement this past weekend and realized that it was true. Laughter clubs have sprung up all over the world, and are accepted internationally. Some people even claim that laughter can cure some diseases. What do you think?

I always tell this to my friend that "Laughter is the best medicines". It's indeed always true. When I'm tired from work I always watch movies that is funny. That's my everyday medicine.

Hi Pose123, laughing face looks really natural and brilliant if it's from one who is authentic happy. A happy guy will infect all the people around with his brilliant laughter unconsciously. There is a saying here, one would live healthily if he laughs out loud genuinely 3 times a day daily. Yeah, smiling to others shows courtesy and friendly and may be it isn't show that the person is happy truly when doing so for that might be a habit. Such smiling face is shown when in front of the camera as well Happy posting and have a nice day

You are most welcome Pose seems that my nagging made me forgetting to answer whether happy feeling or smiling comes first. Here is my reply, smiling would follow the pace naturally when we are happy. Thanks for the info about the accepted internationally Laughter Clubs, sadly to say that though they have sprung up all over the world now, yet it's not available in my place.

I guess most times we smile because we feel happy, but we can also deliberately affect our feelings by smiling even when we donĀ“t feel like smiling. The smiling in itself can make us thing positive thoughts.

Hi, Pose123. I believe that happiness comes first, then a smile comes afterwards. We have to be happy in order to smile. I agree that laughter can cure some diseases, especially Cancer which is known to come from having an extreme level of high stress.

Absolutely it is good for us to laugh. When you feel good your body tends to respond in the same matter. Many times I have had doctors tell me keep your frame of mind in check in order for your body to work its best.

We think we only smile when we are happy. Actualy if we smile we will feel happy. Keep smiling will give us a good mood. The diseses are caused by psychological problems. When we are not ease we get diseases. Laughter can cure the diseases. Ilove warm smilng. Do you know Chace Crawford? I love his smile so much. His smile is as warm as the sunshine.

Hi Pose: Both possibilities could be true. I couldn't smile if I am not really feeling it. Otherwise it would be fake, so I need to be prepared to be happy. We can take the choice to be happy even if we are passing through difficult situations so for me you should want to be happy and feel it in order to smile. ALVARO

Hi starsailover, Thank you for that response. I don't think that the smile has to be fake. We may be concerned over something or even not feeling well, yet if an old and good friend shows up, we almost always smile and feel better, and I don't think the smile is fake. Blessings.

I think they both happen simultaneously. I tried thinking about which really comes first, and I realized that while you are thinking of a happy thought, a smile would slowly creep on your lips without you realizing it. And really, it happens both ways. When you smile, you feel good about smiling, like there is nothing wrong with the world, which gives you the happy feeling. Or when you smile at someone, and the person smiles back, you feel good that you made someone feel good. It could also happen the other way. Like, when you pass a crucial test, you feel happy and relieved, and the first thing you do is smile. Or when this perfect girl agrees to be your girlfriend, you feel good throughout and you smile. So, it could be both ways, or they happen simultaneously:)

It depends. For instance, I may be feeling moody but I can still smile if I hear a good joke or if I see a funny pic. I may be feeling happy and so I smile. Therefore, it's hard to say which comes first. Laughter is therapeutic and so I believe that some diseases could be cured just by laughing regularly. Laughing can produce a positive change in our outlook and that's why I say it could really cure some diseases. I went for a music workshop two years ago and according to the trainer, all of us (ie. all living things) have energy vibrations. Our energy vibrations can determine our state of health. The happier we are, the more positive vibes we have. That's why it's important to laugh more.

I think most times smile comes after the happy feelings. If you get the happy feelings, the body will generate something good which will fight with the diseases.

Smile or smiling is our way of expressing that we are happy. So SMILE is the action word for the emotion happy. I would agree that laughter is the best medicine, or better yet the are instrumental in the faster healing of diseases. Imagine that feeling of being light headed every time we share a good laugh or smile with friends or even watch a funny movie?

Smile is good for our health, our work, and our relationship between each other, especially in this high pressure world. I heard that laughing is good for our stomachs in some way.But laughing too much is bad for our lungs and kidneys.

No..I don't agree with your first statement. We can only smile when we are happy but not the other way round..It's just very difficult..If someone does it, he/she would seem abnormal to us.. But yes, laughing and being happy can prevent and also cure some diseases, as i have read about many such cases.

Hi buddha, Thank you for commenting. It seems we may have to disagree on this as I think that the smile or the laugh can come first and make us feel better. That's fine however as no one expects to agree all the time. Blessings.

I would say its the happy feeling, which causes the changes in the body and then the lips..we smile or laugh depends on what the feel is. When we are overjoyed we laugh and jump. When its a satisfactory happiness, it takes in a smile. Laughter makes the entire hormones and body parts active and thats increases immunity, so it says it will prevent diseases. So happy feeling is cause for smile and laughter!

I think perhaps personally for me I feel I smile because I'm happy. I think being happy or enjoying something causes me to be happy. I like to smile but for the most part I don't feel I smile unless I feel happy. My husband says that I smile too much. I don't think that that is possible. I think it would be neat to have laughter clubs around. I think that laughter does help disease, to have a positive attitude. I don't know if I feel it cures diseases.

Smile can be define in different situations, depending on how it is being manifested. There is a smile which is just pretentious and the other is genuine. Smiling reflects the truth inside ones heart. The real happiness as well is reflected from a real smile.
