Ok, all my fellow mylotters will be more than aware of my obsession with American groceries.. from oreo’s, to peanut butter cups, and from twinkies to chocolate salted pretzels. I have ranted and raved constantly about how we don’t have the majority of that stuff over here, and what little we do have seems to be the American cast offs.. for example I cannot get a jumbo peanut butter cup to save my life, but in 10 shops in the entire of northern Ireland, I can get the crappy little packets of 3.. wow. Lol! And how I can get oreo’s.. sometimes double stuffed if I really search, but will never experience the joy of a peanut butter oreo!! Unless I fly to America. Well that all changed when I found a wonderful website! It’s a store in the UK mainland that actually sells the vast majority of American sweets/candy and confectionary and groceries. So not only can I stock up on sweets, I can get cereals, jams, soda, corn dog mix, nachos, chips, pretzels.. everything! So I have a list the length of my arm of everything I want to order when I get paid. And the top of the list? JOLLY RANCHERS!! Jolly Ranchers were sold in the UK from before I was born, until I was about 13, and they they just disappeared.. so about 11 years ago they disappeared. But now I know you can order them on that website too. My partner is obsessed with American TV shows, so Twinkies and Ding-Dongs are words that have been imprinted in her head since she was a child. Oh and milk duds, and not to mention the famous BabyRuth quote from the Goonies.. so she has her own list. And on her list, aside from the aforementioned goodies? Marshmallow fluff.. Sorry what?! Marsh-mallow-fluff? .. it seems to be some sort of smooshed down marshmallow substance, that is spreadable?! Please enlighten me as to what on earth this is? Marshmallows are whole.. you either roast them on a fire, whether it be camping, at a bbq, or on the open fire in your living room if you really want to, or you have them in hot chocolate, or with ice-cream.. but now they are available in a format that allows them to be spreadable on.. on what? Toast? Crackers? Please discuss with me the factors of Marshmallow fluff! Lol!

highly sugarfied marshmallow spread goodness. good in peanut butter & jelly sandwiches,on desserts, what have you. i wouldn't use it in things like s'mores tho.a bit too runny when heated. by the bye..america has triple stuff oreos now..and ones dipped in chocolate. yea,we like our sugar LOL

when you say jelly, you mean like jam don't you? like fruit perserve? like.. strawberry jam/jelly, and rhubarb jelly/jam.. yeah? .. because jelly to be is what happens when you add boiling water to cubes in a big bowl and leave it to set in the fridge and you eat it with ice-cream.. but i think you guys call that jello? lol!

oh my GOD! this sounds amazing! my partner and i have a recipie at the minute for marble brownies.. you just make regular brownie mix, and then put in melted white chocolate. then make another brownie mix, and put in melted dark chocolate.. then you layer them in the tray, then bake!! so we're making that tonight.. but i shall def try that cooking tip some time during the week!! we don't have chocolate kisses here, any chocolate would do yeah?

Oh marshmellow fluff has been around for years and years. Not sure when exactly it was invented but I remember that being one of my favorites as a little girl and I'm 55 now. Yes, it is a spread. My favorite way to eat it is with peanut butter on a sandwhich. It's amazing!! It is also used to make rice krispie bars and I think there is a chocolate fudge that uses marshmellow fluff as an ingredient. It is also great in hot cocoa. You should order some and give it a try. I bet you'll love it!

it scares me a little.. i'm not a huge fan of marshmallows as it is.. and when i have a bag of marshmallows i tend to only eat the pink ones.. not really sure, as i think the pink and white are actually both vanilla.. but different colours. what flavour would you recommend then? strawberry or vanilla?

I don't like marshmellows either. I eat them very rarely when toasted but other than that...never. I would not eat the fluff alone. BUt I'm telling you that you just have to try it with peanut butter on a sandwhich!! It is so so good! I have never tried any other flavor than the original which is white and probably "vanilla" but it doesn't taste vanillery to me.

oh thats good, i don;'t like things that have too much of a vanilla taste, it can be really over powering sometimes!

I love the Reese's peanut cups and i can get them locally here. But Twinkies :( I got addicted to them and have been trying to source them, Amazon is asking crazy prices!
23 Aug 11
i can get them locally in the centra shops, but thats the only place. www.americansweets.co.uk that websites pretty cool and the shipping isn't that bad, especially if your ordering more than one thing!! and here's a site too.. www.cybercandy.co.uk and this one.. www.americanfoodsonline.com :)

I actually have never eaten marshmallow fluff. It sounds delicious! Imagine getting some chocolate syrup and making a peanut butter and marshmellow fluff sandwich drizzled with chocolate syrup! Man that sounds like yum yums! I can also imagine myself just eating the fluff out of the jar with a spoon! With all this talk of excess you would be amazed at how tiny I am! Thank goodness for my moms high metabolism! Next grocery trip I am hunting down this legendary marshmallow fluff!
