freak accident

My niece's godfather was in a freak accident Friday other night coming home from a concert on his motorcycle. According to the article,
he hit a bump on the pavement in a construction zone and fell off his motorcycle. I don't think he had a helmet on. They did surgery to try to relieve the pressure on his brain, but he was declared brain dead on Sunday morning. He is still on life support so that they can donate his organs.
My issue with this is that he was a firefighter. He should have known to wear a helmet ALWAYS. He had seen what could happen without a helmet. Protect your brain always. A freak accident can happen just going around the block let alone to a concert and back. He had two small children at home.

I just can't believe that he hit a bump in the road hard enough to lose control and fall over like that.
The kids and adults are devastated. The fire department is in mourning too. They were supposed to have a softball game, I think Sunday afternoon, and it was cancelled by agreement for both sides. All the off-duty firemen went to say goodbye at the hospital.

When riding a bike, one must always wear a helmet, if not for one's own safety then for the family who's waiting eagerly for one to come home and be with them. That's very sad that he has two young kids who are now without a father.
There are a lot of motorcycle accidents happening and still people never learn at all.

Oh! That is a sad news. That is why we should really be careful at all times. Accidents can really happen on unexpected times and it can choose anyone. My heart goes out to his two children. :(

That is horrible. I think it is crazy that they require us to use seat belts in a car but someone on a motorcycle is not required to wear their helmet unless they have not been riding a year. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
