the first step is always the hardest

In whatever we desire, in every change we hope to make, we must be willing to make the first step wholeheartedly. It is always the hardest to make since there are all kinds of hindrances, excuses we make to put aside a better tomorrow because inside we know that it meant getting out of our comfort zone. There's also the fear of losing, rejection, being trampled on in spite of our dedication to better ourselves. The challenge of putting your best foot forward is the start of your training. If you can't handle the pain life will give you, what kind of a person will you be? It's like not having a life at all..

When you are about to pulling a cupboard, at first you will feel hard to do so. But if a cupboard already moving, then it would be easier!
The same situation goes in life
The first step would be hard. But if you are already there, it would be much easier
And when you are taking a first step, get prepare to face your own worst enemy : YOURSELF. Fear of rejection, fear of losing, fear of hardness - all come from yourself. If you can manage to beat yourself, the first step would be taken easier

I agree that it can sometimes be the hardest, but there are times when it can also be the easiest. It is difficult to start towards something new, especially if it is way outside your comfort zone, because many people are scared of the unknown. However, other times there are things that seem very overwhelming when you look at them as a whole, but if you remember that getting there is just a series of steps, then it does not seem as daunting and becomes much easier to make that first step.

Very well said maxen.
What makes us as a person/individual is our experiences in life, may it be a good one or the worst ever, each has its own lessons for us to absorb, for us to learn and for us to apply in our daily life. How could we attain all of this if we are afraid to take that first step.
Without taking risk, life would be meaningless indeed. Life is our greatest teacher and we should be willing to become its student. Being a student of life is a gift cause not everyone of us is willing to be one. So we must take every opportunity that life throws at us as a challenge like a surprise quiz, an on-the-spot recitation, a long and tedious exam, like defending a thesis proposal to a terror teacher, cause at the end of it all if we did good, if we took the challenge and succeeded in every step surely there will be a reward for us waiting to be pinned or awarded for all of our sacrifices.
So yes, we should take that first step even if it's hard, because that one step will take us far beyond the horizon.

That is really oh so very true. I think that once the ball gets rolling more often than not, we will be more than fine. However there are just going to be a lot of times where taking that first step, well the first step can be quite the doozy to say the very least. We know what we want but getting everything going in a logical manner, that is just something that is rather hard to say the very least. Not impossible but we got to muster up enough mental energy to really move everything step by step, to get most of everything done.
In the end, every single task we undertake is going to begin with one single step. We need to rise up and take the challenge, to move forward, to get the very most out of the world, out of life, while we in fact can. Without the need to step forward and to take life's challenge, that really does take a lot out of the wonders of life to say the very least. We are going to find that life can be something that can be great for sure. Not to mention that the anticipation is often the worst thing about anything.

Hey Maxen07, I totally agree with you, but thing is i'd rather let my first step be the hardest rather than my last few steps. When you experience your harsh conditions at first you tend to be more stronger over all your forthcoming obstacles in the future. When things are harder remember your learn more and you become more stronger. God tests our abiltiy to overcome obstacles in life. Having no stress in life will never be a challenge. And also to have no stress will be really stressful :)

I agree that the first step is always the most challenging. We are challenged by thoughts of failure, loss, etc.
Over the years, I realized that making the difference in my own life means to take that step forward myself. People, especially close ones are your worst psycological enemies.
Today, I begin to take many first steps in different things I do, especially in busineses. I excite myself and have overcame the challenges of many negative thoughts.

now there's a strange coincidence. i was trying to write something using html as a practise run the other day, and i wrote "the first step is the hardest", though to be honest i haven't actually got round to the second step yet, to make a meaningful comparison.
but i think it is, as its about overcoming a barrier, and a belief that something is too hard to do, or whatever it is that stops us, and then when we finally do it, we realise it wasn't really that hard at all.
