You're still young, aren't you? That sounds like about 80% of the places I've worked in the past. Personal email is a HUGE time-waster, I can assure you, so it's perfectly normal that they don't let you bum around and get paid for it. Not being allowed to talk is pretty bad, though. I wouldn't last a day. What would happen if you talked? Would they actually be able to stop you? Would that be a good way to get fired once you've found another job (and hopefully change things a little by being the rebel)?

Really? They are too strict. If you are not happy maybe it is best to quit your job. But before you quit make sure you already have other job or prospect job so that it will not be difficult for you in financial terms.

I can understand your problem. Its really bugging sitting in a office where there is pin drop silence. I guess you must be working in a consulting firm where there are few members that's why you find it boring. But Russell if you see from the brighter side you have lot of exposures to work, you can learn lot of things from few people that are surrounded with you. The most advantage of your job is that there are if your firm has less people you can discuss your work doubts with your team mates, unlike in a large company where there are big cabins its really difficult to sort out such things. Take an example of a BPO where lot of people do the same work calling customers and selling products. And just keep talking all the day long. I guess Russell since you are quite bored all i can suggest is to make some friends with your office mates talk to them find their interests and make a good connection with them that will help you a lot. Hope somehow i have helped you. Take care.

Yes, I worked in various offices and there was only one that fitted your description. Pin drop silence. Well, I stuck it for 2 years while I was getting my act together to become self-employed. At least I had a goal which made this office not exactly bearable, but well, I stuck it out. Of course, in our economic situation it is good that you got any job, but that doesn't mean that you can't learn new things after work and quietly look for another job. I think your company is overly strict, so why do the others put up with this? Why not talk to a few and see if you can loosen the atmosphere a bit?

I felt that way before.. I felt so bored in the office. I didn't liked my function, the people around me, especially my boss.. They even cut the internet connection. Everyday is like hell.. Seeing those people gives me a really bad day and mood.. Good thing, I'm out of that company already.. I think, we should find a job that we really love because it's really difficult to stay in a job which we don't like. It will just give us depression and bad feelings which is not good. I suggest that you look for another job. Good luck with your endeavor finding.

If you are not really happy with your job then you should find a new one. I know how it feels like. I had experience being in such situation. It's hard to go back to the place you don't want to be.

I can only say that you should do what is best for your. While you may not be happy at your current job, consider how easy or hard it would be to get another job. Where I am it isn't exactly easy to get a new job paying decent money. I would suggest having another job lined up before you quit your current job.

haahaha Lol me too Job sucks for us, being in one firm we can't even enjoy anything, Just imagine if were alone over there like our friend, who works in skyes ray and equities, life will be like sitting in toilet the whole day, and smelling the shet haahahhaha. I hope dude we gotta find some seriousness now, i think its high time for our boss to tell about our work profile instead of sheting in one place and getting to know nothing.

Sometimes we just think so,but have you ever thought that even some people couldn't get a job?If you really do not like current one, just stick to it and continue to find others when you are not work,it's the best and safe way for you to change an atmosphere.Good luck.

that does sound miserable and it doesn't sound like its for you at all. maybe that type of job is for some people and other's can handle it more than others and you seem like it's driving you crazy lol. I would just make sure that you have another job lined up because then what are you going to do if you quit from this job, obviously just be realistic and do what you have to do. If there's other options for you at the moment then go for them, just do what makes you happy but be smart and realistic about your decisions as well.

I think we all have been in a job we hate and want to quit. I hope you are looking and find another job where you will be happier. In the mean time you could use this job as a challenge to force yourself to try to find something..anything positive about your work and work place. That may sound Pollyanish, but it works. You'll feel better if part of your time is spent looking for something good in your work palce, until you find another job. All the best to you

I've been to that same situation 4 years ago. And it is really a relief leaving the job and finding another that you can really enjoy. I'll tell you what, first you have to find another job before leaving your current job. You also need to take note that nowadays, it's hard to leave without a job!

think several times before you quit. Maybe you are just on the adjustment period. So try to think of the positive aspects you have in the company first. And since you are waiting for the other job you've applied, so maybe, if you get a better job, then it's time to quit.

Well! I'm not like you that you hate your work. I love my work very much because i love what I'm doing. Everyday at work is adventure since we meet different customer with different attitude. I always want to stay this way until i die cause i love work. If you don't love your work then it is not meant for you. Find another one and make sure that is what you want and what you love to do. Find another job and Good luck.
