Short Stories?

Why arent there more short stories being created on sites like these? We need some creativity on blog and discussion sites people! Getting the creative juices flowing is exactly what this world needs to thrive. The more abstract the story, the more your brain is working! I want to here about flying purple elephants dancing on clouds that fall into oceans and become orange penguins. Maybe the flying pruple elephants are mad at the clouds for causing their brethren to turn into orange penguins. Or the clouds are mad at the flying purple elephants for dancing on them. Or perhaps the orange penguins were never flying pruple elephants at all. I challenge you to create!

You won't find short stories or poetry here because MyLot is a discussion site and 'creative writing' does not tend to make a good discussion topic in itself. Poetry (and, to a lesser extent, short stories) tend to be deleted. This is not something you will find specifically in the Guidelines ... but you SHOULD read them, anyway: http://www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx There is, however, a great deal of scope for discussing creative writing as a process and, in particular, the challenges and pitfalls one can encounter. I hope that you can find something less 'Dr Seuss'-like to discuss than purple elephants and orange penguins!

Purple elephants and orange penguins were just quick examples. And the interesting part of creative writing is that it can be about anything and could be used as a means of expressing ideas that one might have or perhaps have underlying messages like Nikolai Gogol's The Nose. Also, since creative writing can be used to describe itself creative writing could be a good discusion topic in itself. It is a harder task than just writing about the process of creative writing, but at least it makes the brain think.

Perhaps as a suggestion one could write an article or perhaps a very short article that gives some insight in the many areas of creative writing. Informational blurbs I would think would be very acceptable and if done in a creative manner. Now that is maybe brain storming?
