It seems that when Amy Winehouse died there was a lot of ridicule and "I knew it or I told you so" type of attitudes floating around. There was even someone on here talking about how people bet on the deaths of celebrities who have substance abuse problems. To be honest, I was quite sickened by the responses. At the end of the day, a human life ended, whether you liked her or not. I am not so sure most people would want to be continuously under the abhorrent eye of the paparazzi or experiencing drug and/or alcohol abuse problems. It is obvious that she was suffering.
Well, the toxicology reports (according to the Associated Press) are in and state that Ms. Winehouse did not have any illegal drugs in her system at the time of death. This is not to approve of or condone all of her past traumas or issues with drugs and alcohol but it does confirm her boyfriend's report that she was not using and was clean. There were also reports that she wanted to get married and have children. Unfortunately, this scenario was not her fate.
We do not know yet (all reports are not in) how her body was affected by all of the abuse that she caused to her body over the years (drugs, alcohol, ((anorexia or bulemia)) I just think that we are all owed a modicum of respect, because at the end of the day, we are all just doing the best that we can to survive.

That is right. We people are too often so quick to judge other people. Sometimes it is a "self-righteousness" that is misplaced. A lot of famous people get lured to substance abuse, and if we only knew the things they go through, perhaps we'd understand. It is good to hear that she did not go the way detractors expected her to go. Such a sad thing, though. To die at a very young age just when she was about to turn her life around. You are right, every one of us do the best we can to survive. And we should not be judgmental of the way other people do. We try to help, but, we do not put other people down.

Well, not really. I only know her song Rehab. Well, actually I first came to know about her when the song became a hit. And I honestly don't know any of her other songs. It's a pity that she had gone so soon because I hear now that she was extremely talented. And, based on my readings, I cannot help but feel sad that to read that the people close to her have said that they couldn't actually help her.

Well unfortunately, I think that at some point the person has to want to be clean, want to be healed or to just want to live. Amy may have come to this conclusion and it may have been too late......especially if the tests show some internal damage that was caused by her previous abuse.
That song, Rehab will haunt her. I wonder if she wrote it as a prank because she is reported as saying that she never wanted to be famous and many a famous person is often recognized for something silly, foolish or something that they just frankly did not want to do. For example, Leonardo DiCaprio is reported to have not wanted to act or portray "Jack" in Titanic or Usher who rang into ultra-fame with a song he reportedly did not want to sing....the anthem, "Yeah...."
I wonder if "Rehab" was a song she recorded for fun or just being silly and it just happened to be the one that catapulted her to success, especially during a time of "celebrity" rehab. What do you think?

Beats me. But, I heard that her songs are mostly personal to her, much like Michael Jackson's were to him. Most times artists really expresss their thoughts and emotions through their art. Maybe she didn't even know that song would be a hit. The first time I heard, I couldn't decide whether I liked it or not. Before "Jack", Leo played Johnny Depp's kid brother in "What's Eating Gilbert Grapes" and did an excellent job. But you're right, he'll always be known for Titanic.
