Today when I was @ work, I was sitting doing a transaction and I'm think my friend is moving my chair and I was about to say stop, I got up and I was standing up and look at the ground and realize everything is moving and everything started to shake and, I look at my co workers and I'm like I think we just had an earthquake.
5 minutes or less realize earthquake at Virginia a 5.9 miles away and we felt it in Delaware. My first earthquake and all I have to say is that it's a scary Experience . My heart was pounding and you feel like you you can't do much because it's happening so quick And fast running seems possible but impossible.

I felt it in Pennsylvania. I was in the bathroom and suddenly I felt a gentle rocking movement. I didn't understand. Although the possibility of an earthquake entered my mind, I quickly dismissed it. It doesn't happen here. Instead, I thought I was suddenly dizzy. It wasn't until later that I learned that there actually had been an earthquake. I never expected to experience that in my lifetime.
We are all feeling scared about this now. But, think about the poor people in other parts of the world where there is a constant threat of a hurricane.

Hey what row,
Where I live we are in the warning of a hurricane hitting our way after today and all. Which isn't a good way to think what's to come and think of the bright side of things haha. But yeah i thought it was a great experience because it wasn't bad or anything. Just was scary my heart was pounding haha.

I think i read that in the news a few minutes ago. I had several earthquake experiences lately. Last month we experienced earthquake everyday for one week. I wasn't scared at all because the earthquake was not that strong but my bed was shaking.

Hey Toni,
Yeah I think it's crazy how this keeps on going on all over the world now I just post a discussion title the same but a different date and all I have to say is wow.. More earthquakes it hasn't. Even been a full day yet. I just know there is going to be more

Yeah i read your discussion similar to this one! Please don't think there will be more! Though our earthquakes here are not that strong, i still don't want to experience it again.
So please think that it will all end. Though I learned that there's an earthquake everyday happening in my place, that earthquake is too small to even be felt at all. But i don't want strong earthquakes at all.

Next time, if it happens again, you should go under your desk for safety. I imagine it was very scary.

That is actual advice, hide under the desk to keep falling things from crushing you, or stand in a doorway for the same purpose. If you were not under a heavy piece of furniture and the second floor fell you would be crushed.

hello I am from India. I also experienced the same. It was early morning, I woke up from my bed and simply lying on the bed. Suddenly I heard window started to jerk and I ran out of my bed as I thought it was ghost and saw my father pushing everyone to out of the home and suddenly jerking stoped. I think iti s better to run to free space. You must to built earthquake resistant houses.

Hey payout! Earthquakes can be really scary. I experienced one a couple of weeks ago here in the Philippines. It was a magnitude 5.9. I certainly was glad that it only lasted for a couple of seconds. A typhoon is also on its way to our territories. Hopefully it wouldn't be as destructive as the other ones that came before it. Stay safe and hopefully the coming hurricane won't be destructive.

@enigma,
Thanks for the advice and the kind words I hope so as well that the hurricane coming isn't going to do too much damage I'm sure some. Because when it hits us it will be between 115mph to 85mph that's still strong win period haha.. So yeah I'm hoping all ends well with that storm. The east coast isn't ready for earthquake as the west coast is so yeah.. We will try

Hey kry,
Wow is all I have to say I just can't imagine what it would be like if it was a 8.9 or something like that, that would be felt at a larger range I just can't think of what would happen. It w a very strange feeling un easy and evhing around you is moving and you can't control anything. It was very strong.

I dnt know what I would do in that situation but just run in the middle of a something. A Felid far away from tall buildings and etc. Haha. But yeah happy to hear that you are okay overall and I'm sure everyone is okay. These earthquakes are always unexpected and if my heart was pounding I'm sure people down there are very scared probably fearful that another might happen any moment now.

Yes, I saw the news broadcast on the TV this afternoon about the earthquake. Yes, it would be very scary. Fortunately, there were no major damages. But, I am sure it was a very scary experience for people living in the region, along the east coast.

Hy green line,
Yeah thank God, many people got scared because on the east coast we don't usually expect type of actions to happen. Use to rain and snow and maybe a hurricane here or there like. Are getting one on Sunday but other then that it's very unusual to find a earthquake of that size on the east coast of the united states

I live in Virginia and I definately felt the quake today!! It was a first for me. Everyone was saying we had a smaller one about 7 years ago, but I don't remember that. It was a scary experience! I was at work - everyone was looking at each other like "what is going on??". It was crazy and I hope that doesn't happen again any time soon!

Hy cjfoust,
Wow, I'm sure that was a crazy experience. And we was thinking the same thing in Delaware and when I was @ work. Looking at each other and was like...... Is this what I think it is.. . ?? An earthquake ? It was a scary experience. I don't want to sound negative but I have a feeling that there is more to come. This is just a taste

hello
we experience here in Exton, Penna. It was around 2:00pm when we felt at work in the afternoon. We thought it was our shop people doing something to one of the machines.
I took off for them to tell to stop and when I saw it was not them I was like oh Boy this is not right... then other said it felt like a earthquake sure enough it was.
We felt first rumble and floors moving and the walls and shelves and it stop and then it happen a few seconds later. Yes, very weird, not good feeling because you have no control and do not know which way the walls would fall should that have happened or if the floor would open up or roof cave in. This room we are in like 30 feet long and no real bearing wall in the center it about 20 feet wide.
Thanks unique16

Earthquakes are really scary and disturb the normal life. I really feel sorry of how much panic it would have been to you all. I pray lets the last worst incident be the Japan's quake and it should never happen to any parts of world! And wish all should have a peaceful life on the beautiful earth!

Hey best hope,
O hope for the best but, not much. Can do God knows all. Japan's quake was insane and if that happens I will have no words I don't know what I would do if a tusinami will come and wipe us out that would be horrible.. And sad.. And in Delaware it's nothing but flat land nothing but plains.. Here so water, will just cover us with no problem

It is scary. But when you find out that your loved ones are safe and that everything is okay, life seems more awesome. I come from a place that gets hit by earthquakes once or twice a year. I find it amazing yet I get freaked out. Still, I find that it gives me perspective and makes me more grateful to be alive and okay.

Hey RMG,
I think anyone will get scared due to the fact that it's not common here and it comes out of no where. Then you are looking around see what's going on is this real.. Or am I freaking out... So yeah like you said it will help people be grateful that they are alive and breathing and living to see another day

I heard on the news about this earthquake. There has been almost never an earthquake on this zone. The last was hundred years ago. I'm living in a country where these events occurs time to time. Just an hour ago we had an earth tremor. But we are preparing for a possible earthquake. Nobody can know when could it happens. It would be good to search info about what to do in such cases.

We know of snow storms and here we get feet of snow and I love the snow I really do but this was just crazy and I thought wow my first quake and all I hear is worries of people not sure what's going on and reaction is slow so yeah I'm sire everyone will run next time God is warnings us for the big thing.

I live in Virginia and I felt the earthquake pretty good. I was working at my computer and all of the sudden the house started to shake pretty bad. I did not know what was going on and went outside, it was a little scary to think we would feel such a thing.
