Anxiety begets anxiety.

Have you ever noticed that the more you worry, the better you become at it? Some people even worry so much that they worry about the worrying they are doing! Will all this worrying give me ulcers? How will I pay the doctors bills if it does? Do you worry?

I thinks that exactly right, the more you worry, the better you get at it. Must be all the practice. Its like a spiral, only unfortunately a downward one, not an upward one.
I think someone just has to force themselves to stop it, as i think its quite likely that the more you practice not worrying, the better you get at that too!
I love this idea the idea that the more you worry the better you get at it, its interesting, because its so true. i find, though i'm not so bad now, but there have been times when i have even worried about doing the thing that would stop me worrying. I think when i realised i was doing that, was when i saw i had to become less good at it.

Hello pose, the problem I find is that though I don't worry about everything, in fact there are many things I don't worry about at all. Its just that the things I do worry about I do so well!

I'm in the same boat, I'm good at worrying because I worry about pointless things everyday. Everyday, there's something new to worry about. I try to be optimistic but I find it kind of hard. I'm always worrying about the future which you shouldn't because the future is unpredictable.

Hi Pose: I can exactly understand what you are saying because I'm the kind of person that worries probably too much about the things around him. I usually try in these cases to think about the reasons why I'm worried and if tehre's something I can do. If that's not the case I try my best to forget it and even if the problem is important I have to remember that worrying is not the solution. If you have something to do you just do it, feeling worried doesn't help.

Hi starsailover, Thank you for responding and we agree. We must do everything that we can, after that let it go. Surrender it to God or to the universe depending on the way you view things, but do let go. Of course we must always keep watchful because we never know when we may be able to do more. Blessings.

Occasionally, but since it does not really accomplish anything, I try to come up with solutions rather than worrying. For instance, I do not have a job, I am on unemployment, but it will be coming to an end. What will happen if I do not find a job? Okay, I can spend hours at a time worrying, OR I can keep on putting in applications, and then go to some of the writing sites I have heard about and quit dabbling and get active. At the same time I can also write out my budget and figure out what I can and cannot pay. ACTION beats anxiety. Guess what I am actually doing?

You are so right Pose. Seems the more we worry the more we find to worry about! At some point we have to realize that worrying about something is not going to help the situation or prevent a situation. Instead, we decide: what can I actually do and either do it or forget about it! My mom bought me the most charming necklace once. It is a little silver box and one is supposed to (imagine) place their worries in the box and leave them there!

Hi crazynurse, I like the idea of the necklace and having a specific place to leave your worries and it does work for some people. Some Christians say that they take their concerns to the foot of the cross and leave them there at the feet of Jesus. Anyone who can truly leave their worries somewhere, after they've done everything that they can are truly blessed. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Blessings.

I agree that worrying and being overly anxious isn't good for our health. It only makes things worse. I do worry. I strongly feel we can get ulcers from worrying so much. It is so easy to worry. Unfortunately our lives aren't worry free but I feel it's important to be balanced. Things that we can change we can try to. Things we can't we shouldn't overly stress about it.

I agree with your thoughts.
The trouble really creates more anxiety.
I do not have to worry much.
mnoo everyone has problems in working life anywhere but honestly speaking, we should think a little positive.
Interesting discussion.
Have a nice day!
