Very cruelly. I get a pest killing solid that hangs in the window. It kills the pests in the room. Not people pests, only insects. I used to have a cat that would catch them and carefully pile them in a little pile. My husband loves to aggressively swat them.

ANY insect MAY be member of an alien race .. and you mercyless destroy them?
This is genocide. You should be judged and sentince to 3 year non stop hollyday around the world for free, in 5 stars hotels.

Fruit flies are one of the larger types of flies,Yes? I don't think we get them around here..we just get the pesky house flies and what we call "Vinegar flies",the little ones you can trap with a container of vinegar..I have a bug zapper to fix their wagons...

I take pictures of them, 'cause I bought a macro lens in Edinburgh before Christmas. I never got the tax back although I sent in the tax return thingy. That is annoying, 'cause I could have bought bug bait for the money.
Haven't been a lot of flies this year though. Too wet, and too cold in the winter.

Err, Drosophila melanogaster only lives where there are fruits. But not fresh fruits. If you don't let the fruits to become rotten, you won't see any Drosophila Melanogaster around.
Lucky me I like fruits more than fruit flies like them. So I always eat my fruits before they become rotten. Plus I never buy more fruits than I eat in a day.
