It's had surprisingly little coverage in the media, but there's a plan to have the UN establish an official Palestinian state in September. A lot of people seem to be behind this, including President Obama. However, some people think this would basically destroy Israel. I think it's a bit like asking people if they want lower taxes, most will say, "Yes". If you ask them if they want better education, health care etc. they will also say "Yes". Of course, they can't have both unless their government borrows a lot of money (which is also a bad idea) or does something very cleaver. I'd like to think that most people who say they want a Palestinian state would also say that they believe Israel should be secure homeland for the Jewish people to prevent another holocaust. Can a Palestinian state be established without destroying Israel (several Muslim countries could contribute land for such a state so it wouldn't leave Israel undefendable but I doubt they'll do that)? Should this be prevented to save Israel? Does everybody really hate Jews that much?
