In India there was a system of joint family. In joint family all siblings their kids, grand parents, uncles, aunts, cousins all live together. But now the trend of nuclear family is there. There are various reasons for that as job in various cities, small families, move for good education and much more. What is the size of your family? Are you live in joint family (with parents and siblings) or in nuclear family? Mine was a nuclear family, me, my hubby and my two sons. My in-laws keep visiting. Tell me about you.

I have always lived in a nuclear family, but I wouldn´t know if a joint family would be helpful, specially when there are kids to take care of and working moms. Now that I´m a grandmother I wish I could see more of my grandchildren, but my daughters are acostumed to their independence and they are busy with their lives.

Hi meena!
In my childhood we use to live in a joint family and I used to enjoy those golden days. Thereafter, families split and we used to live with our parents. When me and my brother got married, we started living at separate houses and now we both live in a kind of nuclear family. I feel that if you stay in a joint family (or at least with your parents around) you get more benefits than when you stay in a nuclear family.

I live in a joint family. I am the grandmother and live with my daughter and grandson. I think it is economically a good idea. ANd I think that grandkids learn good old fashioned values from having their grandparents in the group. I think one reason young people have little respect or good manners or even good values is because of the nuclear family.
