Do you think God might forgive a person who commits suicide?

Some people seem to think that suicide is an unforgivable sin. But many suicides are due to clinical depression or other physical conditions. Can a person control having a mental illness or chemical imbalance that might cause his suicide? Would God punish someone for an illness and the results of it? What do you think?

I don't know. Regarding whether a person can control having mental illness..., I don't think he can control. Mental illness is generally inherited. However, he might be able to control the chemical imbalance by taking medicine.

If there is a God, he would forgive. No-one takes their own life unless they are really desperate.

I agree with your last statement. I would prefer not to second-guess God, but I know he will be just and do what is right.

i really don't know... i really don't think god can actually send his people to hell to eternal damnation just because of this... because of them killing themselves. but of course we are told not to harm anyone, and not to kill people and i guess that would include us as well.
