Here in the UK the kids go back to school around the 6th September and the summer is then more or less over. Today I went into a shop and would you believe it but I saw some Christmas cards on sale on the shelf?!! Yes that's correct, you read that right, Christmas cards on sale!! I know I have mentioned Christmas in a discussion already but the things I buy ready for Christmas are available all year round and not specifically for Christmas. I feel this is wrong and just way too early to be selling these items especially as the kids haven't even gone back to school yet.
I think it is ok if it is a special Christmas store that sells just Christmas items all year round but not just any old store.
When do you start to see Christmas items in your stores? Do you think it is too early to be selling such stuff 4 months prior to the day?

I see the Xmas toys and deco around 3 or 4 months before the holiday. I think this might distract many kids from school. They might already be asking for toys when Christmas is still a few months away. Maybe the stores are just trying to get ppl to have more time to buy their stuff; which guaruntees they will get buyers.

Hi ya garlicman300 and welcome to mylot
I still have lots of Christmas cards from last year that I bought in the sales so I don't need to buy any at full price now! I will do the same again this year when they go on sale hahaha

HAHA Talking about Christmas coming too early, with a username like Humbug! That's awesome!! :)
The earliest one I saw was in late August one year, and they usually pop up around September, late september. The way I see it, wait till AFTER HALLOWEEN!!

wow, that is much too early. Around here, there will be back to school stuff, then Halloween stuff, and then Christmas merchandise comes out. The fabric stores have Christmas fabric right now though.

Hi there cutepenguin
I know, it is much too early! Maybe the fabric stores always have the Christmas fabric stuff out but you have just never noticed it and maybe the rest of the year it is kept towards the back of the piles, shelves, stacks, whatever they have in fabric stores hahaa. I also think that it is the time of year now that people start to think about making things for Christmas and so need the Christmas fabric now to get started.
Thanks

I certainly do. They just wear u out w/it a long time before it's time. I don't think they should be allowed to put out a thing till after we have Thanksgiving.

In my country, the Christmas season seem to start when the -BER months start (September). THe Christmas countdown also starts by then. Most people start shopping early to get rid of the rush. I don't think that it will have a bad effect on the kids though. We can just tell them that it does not mean it is Christmas already and just join them on the Countdown to Christmas.

I agree with you. We haven't seen Christmas items yet, but have seen Halloween items. And those that buy the items when they come out are not getting discounts or sales on these items either. Soon they will have Christmas items up too, along with Halloween and Thanksgiving. It truly is annoying.

The stores are getting ready for Christmas earlier and earlier each year. I went to Walmart the other and I saw Christmas on side of the aisle and Halloween on the other side. It is terrible. Even the craft stores have already started selling Christmas items. The dollar stores have also started selling Christmas items already.

I have seen several decorations and trees in some stores here as of last month. I thought wow way too early for me. I prefer to think in the Christmas direction after Halloween. I understand they are probably trying to get some sales as early as they can, but decorations too. Wow way too soon.
