I used to have between thirty and close to 40 hrs working here at my job partime and now i am lucky if they give me twenty hours to work and i look at the scheldule and these other people have more hours than me.Is this fair or am I just getting jealous as they told me if I sent a note saying i could not work in the garden center they would cut my hours back I spoke with Linda one of the people that help out with schelduling she said do not worry about and that it wont happen but I have to wonder if it has already happened as the scheldule gives me the less of hours.Finding out I am pregnant and school starting up I really could use this extra money.I dont know if it is wrong to feel this way am I wrong to feel this way or are they in the wrong. This is where yall come in.

Hi Lorian! First of all I would like to congratulate you for having a baby and I hope everything goes well with you and your baby. As per your concern, you should know your right and the company's policy because it varies on the contract and the company. I hope you would settle this thing and save money for your little angel.

Hello Lori,
I see you are from the US and no it is not right for an employer to cut your hours because you are pregnant. If they are assigning you to a specific department/section of your job and you cannot do it then I suppose they can say that you are not able. But if it is because you are pregnant then the Dept of Labor will frown down on them.
You can fill out the paperwork online and complain, but be prepared for them to say that they would give you more hours and perhaps say you are the one who can't do the job. However, if there are other areas you can work in then perhaps the department of Labor will investigate that.
The only thing is that you are working so lessening of your hours will not constitute immediate approval of unemployment benefits as usually they say as long as they are offering you hours work is available.
Therefore, the only way to fight back would be to have proven documentation that it is because you are pregnant they are doing this.
You are not wrong to feel this way as some companies do unfairly do this and can get away with it if they feel that there is something they can use against you. In this case if you can't work in the garden center they will use this to their advantage. I would not send this note if you can as this in the long wrong will jeopardize you.
Good luck and Congrats on your pregnancy.
